Minor changes in trace minerals and the way they are heated/processed in PB28 cobalt blue allow for a range of dark blue to teal. The Cobalt Turquoise versions of PB28 from Kremer, White Nights, Maimeri, Roman Szmal and Rembrandt are all very close to PG50's teal color. I find that some of them don't lean quite as green as PG50 (which can range from teal to dark green) and they're sometimes not quite as granulating. You're so right, really any of these are such lovely colors for use in color separating mixtures like you show at 8:50 !

I used this colour many years ago before I got to know what PB28 is suppose to look like. I've never seen this turquoise-like version of PB28 before. It's interesting.

@@teohyc Focus on the word turquoise, not the word blue. It's similar to daniel smith's sleeping beauty turquoise, which is bluer than the kingman turquoise. Turquoise is the key word here. I never expect a blue blue out of a turquoise.

PB28 Cobalt Blue Turquoise from White Knights is so similar. It is a beautiful colour, but I am afraid I don't know what to do with it 😕. Any suggestions please?

@@demiphoto it mixes really nicely with almost anything, and you get little flecks of turquoise through any mix you make with it! personally i love it for mixing interesting purples (from a bright one with quin magenta to a near-grey with a mid red). in terms of landscapes it mixes really nice greens and textural greys, and it works nicely with a warmer blue for doing skies and seas :>

Cobalt teal with PB 28 gives a more blue tint opposed to the DS version(with PG50) also found in M Graham's cobalt teal. It is also a bit less granulating than DS and is super soft and creamy compared to how hard DS gets if you put it in a pan or palette and let dry. Super fun to use! I use it in almost everything somehow, and it being a bit semi-opaque adds a bit of body and thickness to light pale colours. It makes a lovely greenish blue with Buff titanium, and soft purples with cool reds or earth reds. The Kremer one looks similar to that.

I also have two versions of cobalt green bluish, not as opaque or turquoise as cobalt teal. They are cobalt green bluish and cobalt green bluish two and came in different smaller sets. Both granulate beautifully and give warm sky hues and particular good when you want airy cloud look. Years and years after seeing watercolour box 1 from Kremer I now have one! Together with the full pan set of 8 I have finally got a great selection. (I also have a half pan landscape with 8 extra half pans. I just love Kremer.

Yay! I love it when you use your Kremer set. There's a lot of depth to the sketch and despite how dark that one shadow looked at first, they came out perfect when dried!

M Graham has a similar PB28 that looks like the PG50 of Schmincke. Not quite a primary blue, but I do love that color.

3:04 When wet the shadow looked indeed very dark, but in the end result it looks quite good! I think bold shadows look great, it makes the lighter parts of the sketch 'pop out' more ;-)

It is not typical for a "cobalt blue," but it certainly is for a "cobalt blue 'turquoise.'" ;) the terms "teal" and "turquoise" are interchangeable. It is a beautiful shade and I kind of want to try it now. My favorite brand of cobalt teal/turquoise is Mgrahams Cobalt teal. Have you tried that one?

Could your PB28 and PB35 labels be the wrong way round Teoh? For Winsor & Newton, PB28 is cobalt and PB35 is cerulean.

They labeled in the same on their website. Their true Cobalt Blue is called Cobalt Blue Medium PB28. But I don't see them sell it as a pan for some reason.
