Thanks for your video man it helped me test my fan to isolate my problem with my small fan not working and confirm it was the fan. Much appreciated.

Will this method work on a 13 jetta?

On My 2.5 09 jetta the fans turn on but run at full speed once the engine is up to temperature , my understanding is that there is no speed control moule so its directly controlled by the ecu thru the coolant temp sensor but theres no relay between the ECU and fans. What could be the cause

My fans are working like in the video, but when i put them on the car they don't want to start...no vcds errors, no burned fuses, no activity when output test from engine, and they don't start when I turn on the AC..what should I do?

Your fans doesn't work on your car because the video teach you something wrong that which lead to destruction of controle module on the primary fan. The red cable is positive 12 volts and the brown one is ground if you reverse them the fans will work but will blow air in the wrong direction check the arrow on them when they are spinning, also if you polarize them reversly you destroy them because the control module features some caps that work only when correct voltage is applyed on them. I had the same problem that you have and then i realyzed what i did... Only the small fan works at reversed voltage, change the big one because it s destroyed now

Hello Ted.I just wanna tell you that your method is wrong! I am automotive electrician and acording to colour code red is + and black is -.i think you allready fried electronic module which is located near the big fan.You just said that`s weird to be RED to - and BLACK to +.That socket has another 2 little pins. One is +k and the other one is signall from the computer(control the fan through pwm).Delete this video.

Hello! Could you be so kind please to share some info. One day i’ve Tested PWM signal on Passat B6. The frequency had been measured as 25Hz and Standby Duty as 10%. After that I’ve generated on the table the same PWM signal to test another VW Fan and it works in wavy behavior. Starts after 5-10 seconds riches max speed and stops. Is this Fan Control module broken or needs another PWM signal?

you are right, fans are running backwards. But that didn't fry the electronics on mine. When I connected the fan back to car, they started working (magically?!) but they spin in the correct direction, which is opposite of what they were running when I tested them, incorrectly.
