On overview will be presented on the newly emerging legalized cannabis market from the perspective of scientific laboratory analyses.
Several types of analyses will be mentioned but the emphasis will be on chromatographic analyses including potency, residual solvents, terpenes and pesticides. Other analyses mentioned will include heavy metals, microbial, genetics/strain identification. Problems encountered in cannabis laboratories will be discussed briefly. The extraction/concentration of cannabis oils into other products such as vapors and edibles will be discussed. Laboratory analysis techniques employed will include GC, GCMS, HPLC, HPLC MSMS, Headspace, ICPMS, Infrared spectroscopy and others.
