Not a fishing video today, but something I think a lot of you guys would like to know because it seems like everyone is recording their fishing experiences now and the wrong card can really mess things up for you. If I see you guys like this video, I'll do one more comparing the SanDisk Extreme to the Extreme Pro (I have one on order that should arrive next week with my new camera! Dan, a have request for you. My question to you is about Sandisk Extreme micro SD 128GB U3 V30 A2 SDSQXA1-128G-GN6MA same model from this video review. Today i baught exactly this model. My question is does the back of the SD card have a chip ( slight bulge - in several places I saw that they call it a chip ) mine is not, I have an older version of Sandisk Extreme Plus U3 A1 32 GB at 5 years old and it has this chip ( and the color range is clearer and if they put me next to each other without knowing I would point out the 32 GB old one as original - but they were bought from Western digital and the colors are no longer the same as the previous models )Your micro sd card where it is made on mine writes Malaysia and the adapter in China?! My computer is under repair and I don't have another device on which to do a speed test (except for the smartphone on which I will use it - but I can't there either because I will change it and if I turn it on I won't be able to replace it.... My only chance is for you to give me directions and look at your micro sd card (I would forget the back of the card has a very vague number and only with a magnifying glass can I see the numbers - is it the same with you? ) Dan, thank you in advance for your time.

Very useful information. My only recomendation would be running a long test just to confirm if the cards are able to sustain the write speed (the v30/v60 factor) which is critical for 4k/5k videos

Very informative test👍. The 80 mb/s max is probably your readers limit as ive seen others test the Sandisk Extreme Pro at close to 100 mbs read and above 100 mbs Reads. But very good tests and good to show users why the regular Sandisk Ultra is not fast enough for 4K 60 FPS, but it might be able to do 4K 30 FPS

Most micro sd card manufacturers only promote "maximum sequential speed" but not minimum speed unless you really understand about micro sd class / V speed / U qualification. Even the cheapest one might have 120 MBps sequential speed but it's only class 10 (10 MBps minimum) while more expensive one have V60 (30 MBps minimum) even though maximum sequential speed is only 90 MBps.

These A1 and A2 their difference is mostly on random I/O and not focused on sequential I/O(aka normal video stuff, or writing a single file at a time) which means their performance is focused when applications are used within them (example: playing big android games like genshin impact [12gb atm] are a good use of these sdcards)

It definately will if that card can consistently handle 30 megabyte write speeds. as thats 240 megabits... thats well over the max recording rate of the gopro 9
@DanRichardFishing
2 жыл бұрын
So first, yes I'm fully aware of the difference and 2, I have no idea what you're talking about. A UHS class 3 is a 30MB/s card and is recommended for 4K for all the GoPro series, which is exactly what I say in this video. What is not appropriate for the 4K standard is a UHS class one or a speed class rate of 10 or less, which is 10MB/s or less. These are the recommendations as per GoPro. Technically speaking just looking at the numbers, a speed class 10 or 6 should also work but they are not recommended by GoPro and in lab testing with these cards has resulted in freezing issues on action cameras. This is mentioned in further detail in my GoPro troubleshooting video.

@DanRichardFishing
3 жыл бұрын
This is a great question and a lot of people make the mistake of confusing read/write speeds with video bitrate. So the osmo has a 100Mpbs video bitrate, which is MegaBITS per second. The read and write speeds on an SD card are rated in MB/s, which is MegaBYTES per second, so it's not the same thing. To convert, 1 Mbps = 0.125 Mb/s :) Hope that helps!! Hope that helps!!
@truthseeker6804

@@DanRichardFishing thanks for the info, but if so, then your gigastone card shouldnt have had any problem because according to your demonstration it writes at about 30Megabytes per second. and the osmo action at 100 megabits equals to about 12 megabytes. so the gigastone should be far enough, and yet it didnt work. any reason why?
@DanRichardFishing
3 жыл бұрын
@@truthseeker6804 That's an excellent question and I was wondering that exact same thing myself because if you look at the math, there's no reason why the card should have an issue right? So this is where it gets more complicated.. there is more to a storage device than just the read and write, kind of like a car, there is more to a car than it's top speed. In a car, you have acceleration 0 - 100, you have braking speed, you have sustained speeds etc. The card is the same thing, so you not only have max write and read speeds, but you also have sustained transfer speeds, response times to random access write requests etc. That's why there are so many different ratings on SD Cards... you have UHS rating, V class, Speed class and there a couple more! I don't have the exact specs for everything but I suspect that the sustained write speed or the access latency of the Gigastone card is inferior and that's why it stops and restarts so randomly. To make things even more complicated, some cards will only test up to 80Mb/s on a card ready because the card reader doesn't have the right bus to get the full speed on the card. So for example a card reader with a UHSII bus will utilize more transfer bandwidth than a card reader with a UHSI bus. It's a bit of a rabbit hole but I think you see what I mean! Hope that helps, google articles on the different SD Card speed ratings and you'll learn all about this stuff!

A1 and A2 ratings are for random access read and write access speeds, so this really applies to running apps from an SD card. As long as your card is a U3 rated card for write speeds, you're fine! @@morganahmed6245 Will you be running the apps on your phone FROM the SD Card? I don't think people really do that anymore as there is so much storage on phones now - in fact most phones these days don't even have an SD Card slot in them. So unless you're running apps OFF the SD Card, I wouldn't worry about it.

To whom who may not know. Speed is not only thing you should care about but reliability, thermal throttling and speed degradation over time and under heavy load. This video is very amateurish.

Nice video, I recently bought the SanDisk Extreme 128 gigs, but in my computer I get 28 MBs-35MBs write a read speed, but in my phone I get 76 MBs read and write 58 MBs, Im not sure if it's ok or it's a fake SD, can you help me? I'm using a LG V35 and I think it's UFS 2.1
@DanRichardFishing

Honestly this sounds to me you're not using USB 3 on your PC, the 28 - 35MBs would be USB 2 speeds (max throughput on USB 2 is 35MBs). You'd need to use a USB 3 port for those higher speeds (USB 3.0 ports will have the blue colored slots). Hope that helps!

Found this Video After i purchased a Fake Sandisk Ultra 128G SD Card from a Large well known Established Computer Store so it's not only online but in actual stores you may trust. Plus the reviews of Real Sandisk SD cards are not good because they are now using a cheaper micro controller inside the SD card which causes compatibility problems as well as the SD card does not last more than a few days to a Month with Video recordings even though the cards are advertised for HD Video and Speeds up to 100 or 120Mbps. It is a Joke, Actual Sandisk SD card Speeds are 14-20Mbs at the Max. Best to AVOID Sandisk as a Brand Altogether.

I shoot in blazing summer heat from the back of my boat for 10 hours at a time no problem. If you watch my fishing videos you'll notice that I have a camera angle from the back of my boat mounted on a Yolo Powerstick. That camera runs from the time I put the boat into the water from the time I bring it back to the ramp and my fishing days are 10 to 12 hours long.

"up to" is something to consider, the hardware of your equipment will limit test/performance,
@DanRichardFishing
2 жыл бұрын
Bear in mind that the card can only transfer as quickly as the hardware you're using it on. In order to get top speeds you need a specific type of reader. Check in the packaging of your Sandisk Extreme card and there's a paper included that explains what's needed to get max speeds.
