Interesting video. As an E tron owner you can see the charging speed on the display behind the steering wheel. Also the button you pressed to open the charge port will also stop charging and release the connector. I was curious if the cable would reach, so I appreciated seeing that. I’m sure the longer V4 cables and the newer placement along the side will make blocking a stall less of an issue. Also my wife drives a model 3 so we’ve used the supercharger network on our road trips. It’s usually my experience that most highway chargers in rural locations aren’t utilized more than 30% anyway. These are the chargers I would expect to see adapters at.

You Can see the speed charging in front of you , is literally in front of the driver’s line of sight , and the button to open the charge door needs to be pressed to unlock the charge port and release the cable.

Good real-world test, thanks. I've got a Tesla and I am not against non-Tesla EVs charging on Magic-Docked Superchargers. And eventually they will be able to charge directly without the Magic-Dock once the manufacturers are selling their cars with the NACS charge port. It's all about getting as many ICE cars off the road and EVs on the road so I'm all for the opening up to non-Tesla EVs. Cheers and drive safely.

I disagree.. You still have cars without NACS that are prior to 2023.

This sounds like a genius marketing scam by Elon. Lure non-tesla drivers in, then frustrate them with a bad experience and very few charging locations. Then tell them "Hey...you know this is much easier with a Tesla" ...lol Genius.

There are plenty of nonTeslas that are not going to see their full charging potential at Version 3 SuperChargers. Other DC fast charger networks can regardless of what connector is used. There is room for everyone at this point.

The Audi also requires taking two charging spaces, one for the car and another for the plug.

Yeah, standardized charging port locations should be a requirement for other EVs to use the Tesla Supercharger so they don't block other stalls.

Yeah man, I once saw 3 non Tesla’s charging at the same time. You can imagine the frustration of those waiting in line.

You are aware not all chargers worldwide are open to all brands right? many supercharger stations are still tesla only and tesla Will be locking them in 2025 for only official partner brands to use, at least in the US (NACS), which kinda almost includes all brands by now, so by 2025 all brands Will most probably have joined 😂

No, you can't. But the point you are *really* making is that Tesla chargers in the rest of the world mostly have CCS plugs, meaning any car can PLUG IN to any Tesla charger.

The Magic Dock makes all kinds of sense because Tesla is not dumb enough to be sticking with their proprietary connector themselves. Tesla is migrating to CCS. They already have in the rest of the world, and there's no reason to have redesigned the Model S & X taillights to make room for a CCS plug if they're not planning on doing exactly that. Putting in Magic Docks is the most painless way for them to migrate to CCS entirely without having to retrofit any of their older cars. NACS is a travesty that is going to plague unwitting North American EV owners for much too long. And because Aptera instigated it for incredibly stupid, invalid and shortsighted reasons, I am no longer considering buying an Aptera.

Wow, non-Tesla EV charging kind of sticks real bad. No wonder other EVs can't sell. The user experience is bad.

Yeah, wasn't ideal for sure. The charge port location and ease of unplugging wasn't great. The unplugging issue was definitely Audi, not Tesla. The Tesla experience was great and had no issues.

David and Erik the White House made deal for 3500 magic dock locations. Even with new cars going to nacs people forget all the used and new ccs cars that are around. Most will get adapters to use but vw has not went nacs and 3500 is really nothing compared to the 13000 to 15000 that ford and gm and others made deals with Tesla for. The v 4 super chargers will have longer cables. The location of the charge port is ok on non tesla units . Tesla didn’t invent were to put the charge port. The Nissan leaf in 2010 has it in the front model s didn’t come out until 2012 supercharger net work 2013

Someone should try several EVs to see if there are similar problems, or if the eTron has special issues, other than its name in French. 🙂
