Well, they’re not completely horrible, they do warm the water a bit. I am mostly concerned with the fact that they market them as a way to “purify” water. I think that is potentially dangerous and very irresponsible for them to do. Thanks for Watching!👍😁 I even gave this thing another chance on an even hotter, sunnier, day than this video. There is not enough reflector surfaces for it to heat fast. To keep the size down the size of the reflector surfaces had to be demised. What needs to be tested is to see if you got up in the morning filled it with clean drinkable water and put the heater out in the sun if the water would be sufficiently hot for a lunch or the same for say an early dinner.

You’re very welcome! I really had high hopes for this thing when I tested it, and fully expected it to work as advertised. I was very disappointed at the results. I mean it does warm water, which is ok as a novelty. But the fact that they market this thing as a potential way to purify water quite frankly makes me angry. This is very dangerous and could get someone sick if they tried that! Thank you for watching!👍😁 I even gave this thing one more chance and tested it even further on a super sunny day, approx. 110 degrees temp, here in TX. Thank you! I really like your testing videos too!! You seem to present the honest facts (at least as you see them) too. Except for ours, the only other “reviews” I’ve seen on this thing have been basically like infomercials, not real tests. Normally, that’s not a big deal, but we’re not talking about something like a camera here and if it takes good pictures or not. This product could get people sick (or worse) if they trust this company’s statements and charts about how “good” their product works. Other than this, I don’t even really have a problem with this company, or even this product necessarily - but they need to stop claiming and marketing it as a device that can make safe drinking water, because it can’t in anywhere near the time they claim, and without a thermometer (at least for this non-XL model) it’s impossible to be sure if you’ve reached a hot enough temperature. It just irresponsible, and dangerous! And what’s even worse is that I’ve reached out to some other larger “prepping” type channels/creators (many of who have previously pushed 4Patriots stuff on their unsuspecting viewers), and there has not been 1 peep from any of them. I wasn’t even trying to get them to promote or even mention this channel, I don’t give a crap about that! They could test it themselves….. If they truly cared about the health and safety of their viewers, I’d think they’d feel a moral obligation to warn them. But I guess they’re making too much money from this company. Disgusting! I’ll never be like that, I don’t care how big a sponsor is (once I get some🤣), if they make a bad product, I’m going to tell my viewers, especially if it’s something that could be hazardous to their health!!! My #1 goal is to help others by providing the best, most accurate, honest information I can!!! Sorry about the rant, this just gets me fired up😡! Anyways, thanks for watching, and especially for subscribing too - I’m honored! 👍😁

Just an FYI, that's OVER 160 degrees for one minute. SO.. 161 degrees. Technically, I know, but yeah. Could save a life someday. ;) One thing that you wouldn't think would make much difference on those is a light breeze. I bought a sun oven thing, and it'll barely cook banana bread in light breeze. In almost no breeze it does great. With zero wind.. charcoal. The sun is putting out a relatively even amount of watts no matter what (as long as you're not overcast). The trick is, that the breeze is carrying away a WHOLE lot more ambient heat than you would think that vacuum tube would allow for. I'm betting if somebody put one of those things under a plexiglass dome, it would heat up crazy fast. Of course.. those wrap around mirror things aren't even remotely efficient, either. I THINK you could actually make those vacuum tube things work really well.. but you'd have to re-engineer everything BUT the vacuum tube part of it. ;)

Here’s the link if you’re interested and haven’t seen that video yet: kzitem.infozu9x7EaEW9s?feature=share I really don’t have a problem with this thing as a gimmicky novelty item, but they market as a way to make dirty water “safe to drink”. Thank you for watching! Yeah, I was really excited to test this product and had hi hopes it would perform well. But I was obviously disappointed upon actually testing it. I mean it’s not bad if you want to warm up already safe drinkable water for hot (or more likely “warm”) chocolate, or something. It just really bothered me that one of the things they advertised this for was purifying water for safe drinking. I think I demonstrated that this is not the case and potentially dangerous. I think I’ll stick with filters like the Sawyer water filters (I did a test/review video on those too), and/or boiling water over a fire the old fashion way to make it safe to drink. Thanks again for watching!👍😁

Thank you for watching and for the very nice comment! Fellow Texan, that’s awesome! 🫡⭐️😁 To be honest, it did warm up water a bit, just not as much or as fast as they claim it does. Which if you’re trying to make a cup or “warm” chocolate it’s ok I guess (it would take several hours to get “hot” chocolate). So, I view this as a novelty, not an actual survival item. But, they market it as a way to “purify” water making it safe to drink. I think I showed why their claim is false, and very dangerous - this thing could get people very sick (or worse) if they try to rely on it in an emergency situation. And that, quite frankly, makes me very angry😡! It’s a very irresponsible and shady thing for this company to do. I even gave this thing one more chance, testing it on one of the hottest, sunniest, days of the year. I published an “update” short video of that. Well that may be true, and as I found, it does warm up the water a bit, just nowhere near like they claim on their chart, which could be dangerous if someone is trying to make safe drinking water. That’s my only real “issue” with this device. I don’t think they should be marketing this product for that. In my opinion it’s very irresponsible and potentially extremely dangerous. I did give this thing another chance and tested it again under what would likely be the best conditions of basically the hottest, sunniest, day we had here in TX last summer; and in the middle of the afternoon, during the hottest time of day.
