Hello Sarah, first thing.. we have the same exact glasses, so we both have great taste in glasses! Lately, I have been using Amaryllis on the interior of my bowls and I love it!!.. I painted 3 coats of Amaryllis over the typical peacock technique of flux 'w's' and any dotted color of stroke and coat. I have been using Mayco coral or pink gloss on the outside of the piece, just a solid, 3 coat overage . So far, my biggest seller because the interior of the bowl looks like a tie dye effect. It is stunning. Make sure to really mix the crystals in the Amaryllis! Cheers and I just love watching your videos.. you are informative and you make me laugh! Thank you!!!

Hi Carol! 🤓 Glasses Sisters!! Love it!! Your glaze combo sounds just divine! I don't have any of the stroke n coats but have them on my list ...which keeps growing 🤪. (As stated in my vid that I've got an addiction...lol! ) I'm so glad you enjoy my content and shared that with me...hearing from you is very encouraging as it can be daunting at times, and knowing that I inspire or entertain or am just company while someone is working in the studio is so motivational!!! xo

Aww, thanks for the shout out Sarah! Amaryllis and the Peppered Plum are the two new glazes I got as well but haven't had a chance to experiment with them much, I'm glad you did and results are gorgeous! I've mostly used flux blossum on the inside, love it as a liner glaze. I think I used it on a peacock technique bowl and it didn't flow at all like the crystal glazes so won't do that again but.....Can't wait for the full kiln unloading!!🥰

Nice results Sarah! I've seen mixed reviews on the rose quartz. And, frankly, this is the first time I've seen the peppered plum and amaryllis done where I liked the results. I usually don't care for the splotchiness of those types of glazes...but that's my personal preference. I know many people really like them. I'm so glad your gamble paid off! I can't wait for the full kiln opening! WOOHOO!

Hi Pat! Firstly...Thank you!! ...Someone also said they had some challenges with RQ...but I just love the strawberry /pink colour (not what I was expecting at all)... but really love it minus the pinholes. I'm going to have to experiment with it more so I can find a winning combination or firing schedule, clay body etc. Im editing the kiln opening now, but I've had a busy social calendar this week keeping me both out of the studio and away from my office 🤭🤪 Not complaining...summer in Canada goes by soo dang fast that cottage visits, and bbq, pool parties all seem to take precedence. 🥰

Hi Sarah, My name is Liana shouting out from Redding, California. I absolutely love your videos and glaze combinations. Funny thing is I get quite different results when I try your combinations. Probably due to different clay bodies? Pearl white looks great on my black clay, eclipse from Seattle pottery supply. It has a bluish cast if on the thin side and purplish if thicker. My favorite floating Spectrum glaze is Kimchi (pink, orange, and yummy drizzles of whipped cream. Your mug with Amaryllis is my favorite and I like your black mugs with pink and Archie’s base! Stunning!!!!

Regarding the pinholing with Rose Quartz: I experience the same thing with Ivy (along with Nimbus, those 3 glazes are the same base). I haven't done a tons of pieces with Ivy yet (planning on more though, really like it and have had some fun unintended results combining it with Amaco celadons), will see if I can figure out how to avoid pinholing in the future. One way or the other it was pretty minimal, barely noticeable with the textured nature of the glaze--would obviously matter more on the inside of a vessel (have just used it on the outside thus far, inside of my mugs were nice thick glossy poured celadons--I like using little stamps at the bottom for a fun "surprise"). And while I'm here--I love your mug handles. I make mine chonky too...I like how they look/feel, added bonus of being easier to work with when attaching (omg mug handles are a pain in the ass lol).
@SarahWaltonPottery

Hi Mary!! Thanks for all this info! Since I've been having so many issues with RQ I've been reluctant to try Ivy and Nimbus for the same reason (tho I just love the colour of them). I have to say that since I've got my new kiln and control the firing so much better, the pinholes haven't been as big a problem for me...but I still need to figure RQ out. I've seen some GORGE results but have yet to have them myself. I will keep practicing, bcuz I just love the colour of it. I totally agree with you about the handles, to me, I just love em! 🥰 Cheers!

@SarahWaltonPottery
Жыл бұрын
Hi Susan, may i suggest that you mix the glaze up thoroughly first and apply instead of adding the crystals at the end, you will probably get a better application and won't end up with all the particles left at the bottom of your pint when you get to the bottom. Hope that makes sense...also, I've seen dramatically different results if it's applied on it's own or in my case, applied on top of another glaze. Personally I like it on top of the Flux as it help the Amaryllis move...let me know if you get better results!! 🥰
