Whats good y'all! Thanks for watching today. Two notes: 1. Any of y'all using the contemporary series? What's your thoughts? 2. The last photo in the behind the scenes ended up looking weird after the video exported.. not sure why but probably going to make that one a black and white.

I recently picked up the Sigma 85 f/1.4 DG DN for my Leica SL2 and I love it so far. Super sharp and crisp, and it's not that big either. It definitely balances well with the heft of the SL2.

In August, I also picked up the Sigma 45mm f2.8 DG DN L-Mount for my SL2 for $639 CA. For the money, it's a wonderful lens. Its minimum focussing distance of 9.45" (24cm) is great as well. All my lenses are primes except for the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art Lens L-Mount. Like your Panasonic, its bigger and heavier but it is my only zoom and weathersealed. I think this Sigma 45mm is one of the best values out there in L-Mount. A constant 2.8 and being small and light (7.58 oz/215 g) for carrying around is great! The autofocus is fast as well.

The 45mm 2.8 is pretty awesome. I use it on my Panasonic S5. From the Industrial style old school build to the quality of the pictures. Especially black and white. You should check out the Sigma 65mm F2 coming soon. I believe there are four in the new I series. 24, 35, 45 and 65.

I tried out the Sigma 45 briefly on my SL but ended up buying a manual focus Voigtlander 40mm f1.2 The sigma was built great, compact and had auto focus but the Voigtlander won on bags of character for my portrait work. Next lens for me is probably the Panasonic S Pro 16-35mm f4 to dive into video more on the SL. Plus that new SL2-S sounds like a winner, winner, chicken dinner!

And you didn't saw the Sigma in real life if you think it's big. 😉 I have both the Sigma and a Fuji and the size, with the hood, is about the same as the Fuji 50mm f2 (without the hood!)... of course, the barrel is larger and it weights a little more, but it's pretty damn compact. I was very surprised when I first receive it, as, like you, I love the compactness of the Fuji lenses.

I'm not sure your understanding what the issues are for night time photography as enabled by more sensitive sensors but inherent lack of detail. I think he should be shooting from his waist but he did not buy that style of camera obviously. I also think that the issue is more using the finger to trigger then him having it away from his face. The body as a tripod Works far better during the scanning as to stability if you introduce a delay or trigger it with a blink of your I literally. It's amazing to me that there is a secondary market for the Boise eye frames but they don't have a shutter control via Bluetooth by blinking while wearing them. I am still in the market for the audio piece you hang over your neck but the eyeglasses if they added some minimal retinal control would be worth $100 used for sure. I guess they need to partner up with Instagram?
