I had my ovaries removed and I was never put on hormones. Thirteen years went by. I could not remember anything. I developed Osteopenia, I had every bad thing on the list! I was given all sorts of excuses. I was even told that I was too old to have vaginal estrogen. I could not find a Dr to help me until recently. My bloodwork showed ZERO on Estrogen & Testosterone. No wonder I was dying. I have now found a good HRT Dr and my levels are good. Im feeling 250% better!!!

Thank you so much for all that you do in trying to educate women (men and medical profession). Found you a year ago Kelly and now following the “menoposse”. As a 60 ish healthy, active, resistance training(LHS), but never offered MRT I see now all the symptoms I had in the last 10 yrs or so could have been prevented. Vaginal E and now Intrarosa plus pelvic floor PT have drastically helped prolapse. Dr. told me this is “normal” and wanted to schedule hysterectomy! Deep dive hours a day, found you, Rachael Rubin etc so could tell my dr. “no thank you”. (And switch drs). Thank YOU!❤

I had horrific heart palpitations that started overnight. I was so dizzy and short of breath and riddled with anxiety because of it. I was a healthy, active 48 year old and NOT one doctor suggested perimenopause. After thousands of dollars spent on medical tests and no answers, I figured out it was probably related to perimenopause and found a nurse practitioner that would prescribe estradiol. What do you know, they stopped! Amazing.

Big fans of both of you, and have subscribed and listened to your podcasts for several years. Thank you for all that you do! One thing I wanted to say: I have osteoporosis and have weight-lifted and eaten healthy for 30 years. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis at age 48 (while in perimenopause). I went on HRT at age 50 and one year ago (having been on HRT for 6 years), my rheumatologist discharged me from her care because I am now osteopenic. She told me that the estrogen (along I am sure with regular weight-lifting and healthy diet) has reversed my osteoporosis. She told me to never go off estrogen! (I am also on testosterone and micronized progesterone.) I have my next BMD scan next year and am hopeful that I have, at the very least, maintained my bone density as osteopenia.

You guys are spot on!! It took me two years, 3 doctors and tons of trial and error to figure all of this out and I came to the same conclusion. I am on 0.25 mg of testosterone per day (bio-identical lozenges), 0.12 mg of estradiol lozenges per day and 20 mg of progesterone cream per day. My gynecologist laughs at my super low doses, but it works like magic for me. I tried the typical high dosage that is usually prescribed and I felt horrible. I looked up the physiological levels through AI and just went with that. The testosterone was the game changer for me. I literally feel like Super Woman on it! 🤩 Brain fog is gone, no aches and pains, anxiety and depression is gone, stamina and endurance with my exercise is amazing. I am so much more productive in my life in every area. It really is like living in technicolor. 💫🌈The only thing that I don’t like is that I have to eat more food. I have a very high metabolism and it seems to boost it even more. Thanks for all of the great information! 🙏🏻

I had my ovaries removed post menopause and i found a profound sense of hollowness, pain in joints, brain fog depression. They made me wait 3 mos to start hrt and it was hell far worse than menopause. I did not know testosterone would improve brain function but weeks after starting i suddenly had a disappearence of the automatic repeating negative thoughts that have been with me throughout menopause. Muscle strength also has improved so i can move better.

Same with me however, I had to wait 13 years to get any kind of help. I wasn’t even allowed on Estrogen. (Wrong Drs).

You two are great! I haven’t had ovaries since January 2021, (laparoscopic hysterectomy, no vagina) no wonder I feel like shit and my motivation is pretty much non existent! My practitioner has increased my estrogen a couple of times and added progesterone and I’ll be starting testosterone next week. The prescription inserts need to update their wording and information to the most recent scientific research. I’m sure you know that Dr. Susan Harwick-Smith promotes T pellets.

I am a 58 year old er+ breast cancer survivor w/ osteoporosis. I'm not allowed to take transdermal estrogen, but my obgyn prescribed vaginal estrogen, which is a game changer. My PCP has prescribed a low does testosterone cream and it has helped my mood, my ability to sleep, and my overall feeling of wellness. I do have a uterus. Because testosterone can cause elevated estrogen, am I safe to ONLY be on testosterone? My oncologist will freak out when she finds out I am on Testosterone as it is!!

@@mercedesmycat7284 it’s my understanding that if you have a uterus you also need to be taking progesterone to protect the uterine lining.

Thank you so much for this, it was fascinating. I do however want to push you on a full answer regarding testosterone and muscle building. I understand that testosterone will not build muscle if you don't eat enough protein or lift weights. But you did not answer whether it would help if you are actively training and eating well. I'm post menopausal and have been resistance training at the gym for over two years with very little gain in muscle. I eat clean, and have upped my protein intake considerably and lift heavy (for me). I have recently started hormone therapy (estrogen transdermal and progesterone) but it is too early to know if this might help. Can testosterone help IF we ARE doing the right things?

Things went kaput at 49... i'm not sensitive as i was and it just happened so fast a yr ago -- and my libido is eh now but my free T is higher than "normal".. i was on the pill for many yrs and got off switched to HRT (lower) estrogen and progesterone now about 6 months-- thinking that's why my free T is higher but... what can i do w less sensitivity ? Already use vag estrogen cream.

I have a friend who transitioned from female to male and he's now getting testosteron injections. You mention transgender women maybe benefitting from some testosterone, but do transgender men need some estrogen after ovary removal, or does enough testosterone get converted to estrogen to male levels?

I was put on a Male gel testosterone and it worked great I felt great and then I changed doctors. She prescribed a compounded testosterone mixed by a pharmacy. It completely took away all my positive benefits and I kind of felt like I was back to square one again Even though my blood level said everything was great. I went back on the gel testosterone as I still had some leftover and started feeling great again. My doctor said that that is basically in my head and that’s not really the case because my blood level showed that the compounded testosterone was working. But I definitely noticed the difference. What should I say to my doctor because I don’t want to change again but I don’t want to feel bad again either.

Super interesting. I 'm a healthy, physically active 73 year old but have suffered from depression all my life that hasn't responded to drugs. I asked my GP about testosterone years ago as I have NEVER had sexual desire , but she laughed. Have had three kids, HRT for a year for hot flashes, but don't recall if it helped my libido. How do I find a GYN who would be interested in trying hormone therapy for my mental well being?

I have heard of wives using their husbands testosterone cream with FAB results. Apparently only a small amt is needed. Why they haven't marketed this cream for women is astounding ... especially for mental acuity.

Side effects like excess hair growth, deep voice etc shouldn’t be a problem if given the correct dosage….1/10th that of men.
