Šarena Džamija Masjid, Tetovo, North Macedonia 2023
This masjid was built in 1438 by two sisters, Hurshida and Mensure, during the Ottoman period.
Located near the Pena River in Tetovo, North Macedonia.
Most mosques of the time had sultans, beys or pashas financing their constructions, but the Sarena Dzamija, however, was financed by two sisters from Tetovo.
More than 30,000 eggs were used to prepare the paint and glaze that went into the elaborate decorations. Another major difference between this Masjid and other Ottoman Masjids is that the Sarena Dzamija does not have a distinctive exterior dome.
Very colourful and hand painted all around. I have never seen any Masjids like this. Local people calls it "Painted Mosque".
I went there during the Dh'ur prayer and it was full, Alhamdu'lillah.
