Now we need TGM3TI in Arcade archives and finally get TGM4 released

As far as I know, all "Arcade Archives" are arcade roms with some emulator. TGM3 is not a single file "rom", are a bunch of files running on a PC-based arcade board, esencially, an actual Windows XP PC case with the game included. I think that the new TGM3 we will hopefully recieve, would have to be an actual console port of the game.

arcade archives rarely has newer games, tgm3 would be so cool but realistically it's too complex for ACA, we'll probably get a proper port. hell unrelated to tgm but i hope we see some 3d namco stuff like the ridge racer games and going back to arika fighting layer (never been released outside japan much like tgm, can also be linked to technictix like tgm).

@@nahucirujano They could either do that or somehow cram a Windows VM inside the switch. But that would obviously come with tons of legal issues.

TGM3 on December 1st. I don't have any proof, but I don't have any doubt either.

Have they patched the music?

They probably cant. The music is broken cuz the speed of the game has been changed from the original arcade version.

if they were to change the speed back to normal there would be several different problems for people without monitors that support refresh rates higher than 60Hz 😭

I don't see a release of TGM3 happening, sadly. The ZN2 and SH2 cabs used for TGM+TAP are fairly simple, bespoke arcade systems, but the Taito Type X used for TGM3 is just a Windows PC with JAMMA connectors. An eShop release like this would require the Switch (an ARM tablet SoC from 2013, no PC virtualization tricks possible) to *emulate* a Pentium 4 AND a DirectX 9 GPU, complete with licenses for firmware and drivers and Windows XP, at full speed, with playable input delay. High end PCs are only recently managing a Pentium II, via software like 86box. It's just not possible. A direct port would be feasible, but require a pretty expensive amount of work compared to an emulator like this (which can be reused for other games on the same hardware). They might as well just make a new game at that point...

If they still have the source code, it could be a simple source port, also, there's no need to go heavyweight on the emulation, they could do something more high level like wine or whatever valve uses to make porting games to the Steam Deck easier.

@@gcolombelli "Something like WINE" is the result of 30 years of work by hundreds of volunteers and multiple large companies, and it still requires an x86_64 host. Any similar solution for ARM needs hardware the Switch doesn't have. jp companies of this era had a habit of not keeping source code around, but that would be the only option.
