A quick overview of a restored Texas Instruments SR-11 Electronic Slide Rule Calculator. To demonstrate the scientific prowess of the calculator, it is being used to calculate a trigonometric function.
The SR-11 came out in 1973. However, the TMS0602 calculator chip in this particular calculator is dated the 7th week of 1974. While popular in the US and manufactured in the USA, this particular calculator was built for the European market and manufactured in Italy.

The SR-11 uses 3 AA-sized rechargeable NiCd batteries. This calculator was supplied with a power adapter fitted with a Europlug and switchable between US and European compatible power standards; 115 V 60 Hz and 220 V 50 Hz respectively. To preserve battery power, all but one of the digits are powered off approximately 30 seconds after the last key press. To reactivate the display TI recommend that the user press the -/+ button twice, negating and then restoring the value.
The SR-11 support scientific notation, using the EE key, but does not feature any memory; meaning that a pencil and paper are handy for longer calculations.
The user manual provides many useful functions to extend the use of the calculator, including to arbitrary integer powers and roots as well as transcendental functions, logarithms, and more. The full manual is available online from the Data Math website.
