good video but you chose the easiest offset possible. I’d like to see you change the 45s to something like 30 and 60, then space them 3” apart and see how you would do that. Also this is way easier when you doing a tiny 1:10 scale model on a bench. When I bend conduit for electrical work, alot of the time there is nothing to reference the angle from because it’s 10’ away and there is shit in the way. It a lot of guess, test fit, bend guess, test fit, bend.

How do you compensate for growth? You turned your tube around for each bend, which would not give you the desired centerline. To find your 4" offset at 45, multiply 4x 1.414.
@HH-Machining
4 жыл бұрын
Because he also turned the cheaterpipe around to get the right measure between thr bends. That gives the right dimensions. This method would not work for long pipe where is multiple bends and turning around is not possible.

Nice work on these videos, I was really looking forward to these. I just started my first rock crawler cage for a buggy I'm building on my channel and the offset point of view stuff is really boggling my mind...that and trying to put 5 different offset bends at the correct angle on a 10' or longer tube. Do you have an in depth notching video series, specifically a 45 tube that meets two other already at a 90? Anyway, we should do a collaboration at some point.
@TheFabricatorSeries
8 жыл бұрын
+BleepinJeep Thank you. I had a viewer suggest bending a wire, such as a welding rod, in the same shape as the offset. It would work well for small bends, but for a continuous length, you'll probably have to get some small diameter bar stock if you want a visual reference like that. I've had a bunch of requests for specific notches since there are millions. The best thing to do is email or message me with some form visual like a drawing or some tubes laid out so I can see the specific notch you are going after. 9 times out of 10 I can draw it out for you. We might be able to put something together in the future. All depends on the schedule. Just drop me a line if you have an idea for an episode.

What you call an offset is what an electrician would call a "dog leg" An offset to an electrician is two bends at 180 degrees of each other causing a parallel "offset" on the same axis by some determined distance. Did that make sense? lol

Loving the videos, but I must say you should work on your audio. The levels between given scenes, clarity of your voice as you move around your shop, and the much louder theme music make for a difficult time of volume juggling.
