Love this game, the best strategy is to raise the level of blocks near the top at the beginning, then scroll to the very bottom level and match horizontals only to create chains. Stay away from vertical matches unless necessary. Beginners make the mistake to do vertical matches which make too many gaps to continue chaining. If you get better at horizontal matches, there are advance techniques where you can spam the A button to force a block in-between chains as they are dropping. For example, you match a vertical and there is a block on top that will match a color at the bottom, switch a block between the top and bottom before it falls (spamming A) and you can make another vertical chain. Your entire goal is to make chains, use the L and R button to give you more blocks.

My time to shine, finally. I'm pretty much adding on to what you've stated. --------- Working and utilizing the field-- level the toppest row so that it's flat across, and raise to the top. Work when the stack has produced a playable row. None of that awkward unplayable deadspace in the stack. Block Sliding -- It's way easier if one slides their finger across the A + B button, and simply move the cursor twice to the side quick enough so as to make a chain from a horizontal clearance. Squeezing blocks in a vertical clearance-- With them vertical clearances, if you're quick enough, it is possible that one can squeeze two blocks (one from either side) under a 5-combo for a chain. Really fun to do, and pretty easy to master once you get the swift movements going I've worked on lots of tech over the years, and considering making a write-up of all the things I've done.

This is one of my favorite games. I wasn't shocked to see you struggling with it! It takes a bit of getting used to, but once you find that groove, you'll be on super expert getting "?" combos! Also, in case no one told you yet, Pokemon types don't matter in this game. They are just for decoration. And another thing, try doing the puzzle university, it will teach you different ways to do chains and combos. Help stretch the ol' grey matter. Oh, and 3d mode is MUCH easier, but, sadly, you don't get to do any in 1p stadium. Tragic.

I wonder if Thab realized that you are supposed to just spam switches, as there is no "invalid move" anyway. In fact, I love how you constantly shuffle blocks even when a combo is going in puzzle league. I can't remember if you can even raise the field during a combo though...
