Not far from Thailand’s capital Bangkok, around two dozen dogs attached to wheels that support their disabled hind legs scrambled along a path as part of their daily exercise, on February 6, 2021. They were among the 600 animals nursed back to health thanks to a charity called The Man Who Rescues Dogs. But like so many other organisations, the shelter is struggling amid the Covid-19 pandemic, with a sharp decline in donations and a growing number of animals being abandoned.
