Fried rice is definitely comfort food for me. When I was very little we had very close family friends from Thailand and the lady of the house used to babysit my brother and I and she made khao pad (Thai fried rice) often. (She did learn fast that Western kids do not care for squid in their rice for breakfast.) It's such a quick and simple dish that it's easy to take for granted. Many Thai restaurants in the US do not do it justice, if they serve it at all. But I found a small traditional Thai restaurant run by a very nice older couple on Church St. in Concord, North Carolina and they had proper khao pad. The flavors are completely different from other versions of fried rice. It was something I had not tasted since childhood and was a very sentimental moment. So... I understand it being comfort food 100%. Thanks Mark!

YES! I’ve been eating and cooking fried rice since childhood. Ethnically I am Filipino so we would sometimes eat Fish and Fried Rice for “Breakfast”. The fried rice I am use to cooking is very simple but when you make it yourself the Fried Rice is absolutely the best. I really enjoy watching your videos from wherever you are in the world. I have mentioned in other comments you are truly the “Food Ambassador” of the planet. I mean that your palate has no boundaries and you seem to like foods from ALL parts of the world!!!

So happy that you covered Talad Noi area, is so underrated and only stone throw away from Yaowarat chinatown. We went to the talad noi crab fried rice last year, this place was on my radar after we went for a good meal in a restaurant called charmgang about 100 m away from the crab fried rice stall. That night i told my husband this stall is very special from the way Aunty plays with the wok and the aroma was just amazing. The next day we went to try aunty fried rice and imho it was better than Jay Fai. Im glad that you came and do like the food, the whole family running it deserves to be featured in your vlog and hopefully will even flourish more in the future

I must say, I always enjoy it a lot when you are back in Thailand! 🤩 I was born and raised in Switzerland and I have Swiss-Italian roots... Yet, South East Asian & International Food are my faves, yet Thai food is my absolute love to die for! 🫠💯👌🌶🌶🌶... I really love rice & rice noodles the best of all carbs!😉... Often I am eating fried rice already for breakfast... also cook my own Thai & Asian food... we are getting a nice range of many fresh, dry & conserved Asian foods here... happily... With all the best for both of you & for Micah😘Esther

As a Thai native, I have enjoyed homemade fried rice since childhood, and my mother’s recipe remains the best in my experience. The techniques for cooking fried rice can vary widely among families. Some may add dark soy sauce to enhance the color, while others might not. Similarly, some include tomatoes, while others avoid them to prevent the dish from becoming watery. The timing of adding eggs can also differ, with some adding them early and others later. Mastering the art of fried rice can take months or even years, as the dish, though seemingly simple, is quite intricate. I am delighted to welcome you back to Bangkok and look forward to exploring and tasting local dishes with you. I hope you didn’t catch cold after the filming. Cheers!

I just went to Bangkok for the first time!! Too bad I couldn't watch this video before my trip... but the oyster pancakes at Nai Mong Hoi Thod near Chinatown, the braised pork hock and congee along Charoen Krung Road were also amazing! We also went to the Thonburi Fish Market, the seafood and stalls were also worth the long commute!!

Hello Mark as a Turkish citizen i loved your Turkish Serious it was very wonderful and amazing. Thank you for visiting our beloved country again after 7 years. As a fan and a follower of your work is there possibility that you could one day shoot a Documentary about Youself like how many countries you been to, how many countries you plan to go to, have you ever had food poisining in your trips, what made you travel to countries to eat food, how don't you gain weight, and do you eat all the foods entirely that they serve you or do you just taste them like a Gourmet. I have so many questions to ask you i think many of your followers do also. I wish one day you would shoot a Documentary like that a small video sort of to answer all of our questions about Yourself.
