After senior high school you need to take a pre med course like BS Biology, Nursing, Medtech, Pharmacy, Radiology and others which is 4 years then 4 yrs proper for medicine and 1 yr. post intern graduate a total of 9 yrs. Then take the board exam. After passing the board exam you need to undergo a resident physician for about 2 to 3 yrs then after that a specialization for 4 to 5 yrs and so forth. What you ate saying is in Thailand only 6 yrs to study in medicine.

@@angelicasevilla5586 It's 8 years. After completing the 4-year medicine proper program you are already a doctor and eligible for taking the medical board exams. A board passer may then practice independently as a general practitioner once granted licensure. Many, however, opt to train further as *interns* (also known as first-year residents) and subsequently as residents to further hone their skills. After completing residency you may decide to pursue further studies/training in a sub-specialty with the aim of becoming a fellow and ultimately earn a diplomate.

The only reason is, it is cheaper and easier to get into, as long as you have all the requirements, you’re set. In countries like the US, there’s a lot of barriers, expensive tuition fees and it is very competitive to get into. You will need tons of requirements and you should be one of the best in order for a med school to accept you. Meanning they will also check if you take AB calc, chem during hs and have good grades. Not to mention all the shadowing you need to have as a requirement as well. There’s just so much requirements on top of a very expensive tuition fee, though student loan is there but the amount you will need to borrow will be huge.

Because Philippine med school is patterned to the American med school curriculum. The books used in Philippine med schools are from American authors and the medium of instruction is English. More likely than not, the main goal of some of the foreign medical students in the Philippines is to be an IMG Physician in the US. Philippine med schools are expensive (esp. for us Filipinos), but it is still way cheaper and easier to get into compared to the US.

I would also add that being an IMG Physician makes it hard to get into a lucrative medical residency such as Surgery. Not to mention, USMLE (US Physician Board Exam) is very expensive and lengthy as it could take years to pass all steps. Her accent look like Filipinos and not Thai and she called Thailand's in a Filipino accent "Tai Land". I think it's strange. Thailand has very good medical institutions. Why study in the Philippines? it's make sense If she study in Singapore or USA for better school than Thailand.

Yes I do agree. I am a Thai and I really annoying with her accent that she can't even spell Thai as Thai correctly. Her accents is really the Filipino accents. Tai Tai Tai .... her T spellings is terrible.

Yes that’s very strange that Thai called Thailand or Thai as Tai. It’s so funny that her accent is too strong as Filipino. 😀

Guess she didn't pass the medical entrance exam in Thailand cuz the entrance exam criteria and standards were so high. This is cuz the medical curriculum in Thailand has very high entrance examination criteria and standards. Only the country's top students at each school can pass the exam and enter Thailand's medical curriculum. Those students are the cream of the crop.

Wow, that thai girl is soo pretty. It is quite an amazing story. She went to a nursong school, became a nurse and later moved on to become a doctor. Excellent career pathway, she has thought it through very well. I can see that her future is very bright. I am under impression that schools in the philippines are good but they focus too much on testing rather than teaching. Also the facilities are not that good. I wish i could go and visit Thailand, I love spicy food.

MD program is LONGER in the Philippines. A bachelor's degree is required BEFORE applying to a medical school. She got in because she has a BSN already, otherwise if a Thai applied in the Philippines medical school, they would be denied because Thai students only have high school diploma when they apply for medical school in Thailand. So MD is Thailand is 6 years after high school. Whereas MD in the Philippines is 8 years, MUCH LONGER than Thailand. The Philippines use the American system because Americans established all schools in the Philippines which is why Filipino doctors have a smooth transition to practice medicine in the USA after graduating from a Philippines medical school.

Wait, i'm kinda lost. So she's a Thai BSN + 4 Years in PH medicine? So how is it shorter than PH then since PH is 4+4=8? BSN in Thailand is only 2 years?

However thais have yearly quota on how many can take medicine and it could take many yrs until you can study med unlike in PH after premed you can take med anytime that is why they take Med even if it takes 8yrs in PH 4yrs premed 4yrs med
@JonnieR

@@FrenchFilii think he was referring to a pre med course. In this case the girl already finished her BSN, a pre med course in Thailand, so she applied for a medical degree (medicine) here in the Philippines coz the MD only takes 4 years compared to Thailand which is 6 years. Her challenge though was in the system whereas top medical schools only require a limited number of students to allow the degree of medicine compared to the Philippines, thus those who wanted to study medicine can take many years before they can start to study because of the quota.

Wait what? I thought Spaniards established medical schools in the Philippines. Where did you get this information?
First of all they don’t speak English in Thailand that’s the main reason why they want to study in the Philippines. So if they plan to work abroad after they finished school they have to be able to speak English.
