Well, in keeping with what I did on this day last year, I decided to head back to Bensenville and catch some more pre-Thanksgiving train action, and boy, was I not disappointed!
Unfortunately, I didn't get out of work quite as early this year, so by the time I was able to get out here, it was already getting dark, but I still got plenty of good night shots. A couple of the highlights from this railfanning session were catching 4 different Metra locomotive models (F40PH, F59PH, F59PHI, and MP36-3S) and catching two F59PHI units double-heading an express train.
Perhaps the most interesting and epic part of all of this, though, were the transmissions I was picking up on the radio frequency. This was my first time listening to the MILW frequency, and the CP dispatcher and engineers were giving me quite a laugh. Notable comments made were, "UP's not going to like us." "When have they ever liked us?" "Touché, 246, touché." "...There's really no good window to get a 12,000 foot friggin' train running until about 19:15, over." There was a "Happy Thanksgiving" transmission at one point, which was neat to hear.
This was an excellent time of railfanning and this year turned out even better than last year!
