One word..... FABULOUS!! I love all the intricate details! Just fabulous! I love that butterick pattern! I could make it over and over again but as you know, I have to make something with fewer pattern pieces after a more detailed pattern due to work and my life 🤣🤣. Your pants are amazing too! Love the fix you did to accommodate the extra fabric at the waist. Looking forward to your future makes. Love your energy and thanks for the mention.

Thank you so much! Since your graduation dress, I was like I gotta try this pattern, I really enjoyed it, so I really appreciate that you video gave me the nudge I needed! I was also happy I found a solve for the pants and added that bit of flexibility in size too!

The way you embellished this dress is lovely (simple but oh so chic). The fabric is already the star of the show but you definitely took this dress to the next level with the embellishment. Now this is what I call next level sewing. Especially when patterns are using proper methods (like the two piece collar stand) which I also prefer. For me sewing is about technique that is what makes a well made garment. Don’t get me wrong every now and then I like a quick sew but overall give me a pattern with the proper techniques and I feel like I invested my time and resources adequately. I absolutely adore this dress…..GORGEOUS.

OMG thank you SO MUCH! I agree with your sentiments so much! This project let me really take it slow, for example choosing to sew the ric rac into the seams instead of just laying it on top of the already sewn seams, added just ab bit of extra intentional sewing and I think looks a bit more elevated (or maybe thats wishful thinking since it too so much longer) but I really enjoyed this and I am thrilled you appreciated it as well!

Yes, use all the ric rac! I thrifted some ric rac in years past, and always assumed I'd use them for my children's clothes, but then again. why should they have all the fun lol. I was determined to find an adult approach to using it, and I'm pleased with how it turned out!

Hi Evette, yes I am self-taught. Thank you so much, and I am trying to be more mindful in my sewing practice. It helps me to slow down. When I want to work on something, I am trying to remind myself to look in my stash and consider if there is an opportunity for trim or some new technique or finish that I can use!

That is a beautiful dress, you convinced me to try a two piece collar, haven't done that yet. I loved the way you fixed your sizing issues on the pants. Happy Sewig.
@TIMAbyFK
Жыл бұрын
Yes, please try the two piece collar if you have a pattern in your stash that has one. As I mentioned, I was intimidated by it initially, and struggled a bit with fitting it in, but adding a line of stitching at 5/8" and 4/8" around the neckline, then clipping into the neckline close to that stitching allowed me to ease the collar stand into place a lot neater without puckering. Take your time with it, but it's worth it and I can't wait to try it again to improve my muscle memory!

Oh thank you Vee! Listen I can't wait to share what I got- the WOOL is woolin' & I can't wait!! I made the faux leather pair of the Mimi G pants, I have heard people refer to it as jeans, maybe because of the fabrication of her example, but I've seen you make Pants, Vee, and these truly are no different, I don't find it to be like jeans at all- you totally got it!

How was your Thanksgiving? Everything is so beautiful! I like the size of ric rack you used. That could have taken it sideways really easily, but your eye is keen on proportions. I had a pair of jeans with that pintuck down the front of the leg, and they were my favorite. I am scared of pants, though. I am proportioned the opposite of you. I am a 14-16 at the waistline and 6-8 at the hips, so I am not even sure where to start.
@TIMAbyFK

Thank you so much Rachel! Yes, I switched from medium on the bodice to large in the skirt and jumbo for the last tier, and I love the way that worked out, I am so glad you noticed! Ahh, pants are a doozy! They are such a challenge to fit, but honestly, taking a basic pattern to get a go, is a good place to start. The trousers that I am wearing are meant to be wide leg, I wonder if you got the fit you wanted at the waist, and did not worry about any grading at the hip, and just let them fall to the floor, straight down, I wonder if you would like that look. Or consider what the pants you mentioned you enjoyed, what's the shape of it, and then find a pattern that suits it.

Hi Janie, Thank you! I got the drawers from Ikea years ago they were discontinued, but now they carry this as an alternative, you can mix and match the units to make custom combinations which is nice: www.ikea.com/us/en/p/jonaxel-storage-combination-white-s99297144/
