@@DavidSiebert I thought Florida only had a few F22's which were part of a demonstrator squadron left down there? Many were transferred to bases in Alaska and Europe. Either way though, the F22's would be bored out of their minds. The only aircraft are whatever helicopters they may have brought. The Admiral Gorshkov is just a frigate, so only has one helicopter that would be kitted out for anti-submarine duties. I don't know if the fleet oiler or the tug boat would have anything else, but the shouldn't be armed anyway. They might have a few drones as well I suppose. But as an Air Dominance platform, there's just not much for an F22 to do. On the other hand, Florida also has the 95th Fighter Squadron at Tyndal, which got it's F35s last year. These are likely a much better airplane for making reefs out of warships. There's also a ton of F16 and F15s lying around in the area, both as regular military assets and as part of the Air National Guard. All that said, I think the Russians would find a torpedo shoved where the sun don't shine from a surprisingly close range before anything else could even be activated.

@@frednone We wouldn't send a SSGN, primary point of sending a sub would be to get more accurate monitoring on their sub in that group, SSGNs are too valuable, and under equipped for that role. It'd be an attack sub, they are more geared towards shadowing warships than a missile boat.
