@@blackshirtsrule4everwe just need to keep the comment section stuff in the comment section. I'm certain that very few people ever agree on any hobby/sport. For some reason people in the shooting/hunting world like to just down on each other personally for some reason. Like it makes you better than another if you seem like your opinion is supported more. Everyone has their own way. Predator hunters down on deer hunters, deer hunters down on bird hunters but at the end of the day we all just want to get outside and enjoy ourselves. Get out of the workplace or house and do stuff like sit around a campfire or night hunt some hogs because it's fun. My dad still gives me crap for using a thermal to spot hogs and ir to shoot. His last year of hunting he shot one and it jumped, the shot was a bit low. I tracked it with thermal and lumibright and he got a kick out of it. He watches the videos of the hunts I do now. I'm in a wheelchair (Wounded in Afghanistan) so I don't get out as much but when I do we like to get a bunch of us abounded Vets together a pile up hogs. We hunt a lot from buggys and I have a tracked(like a tank) wheelchair, im sure some wouldn't like that. I hunted on public land a while back, I have a permit to drive past the no vehicles sign. A guy cut my tires and scratched in my paint "No Vehicles" on one side and "Walk next time" on the other. Fortunately a game wardens camera caught it on video. I had to go to court, the judge made him pay for repairs of course, sentenced him to 30 days in jail and he had to pick up trash on weekends for a year. He was going to take his hunting license for life. I asked him not to. I wanted him to attend a disabled hunting class. The judge agreed, the guy refused and took the ban. He was caught poaching later and got another 30 days for poaching and a $5000 fine for violating a court order, they took his driver's license and truck. (He poached 2 gators, had one in his truck.)

I made the button pusher comment. Your cohost would drone attack and grenade launch wild life if it was legal? Hand Calling/Diaphragm calling is a skill and art. Let’s think a bit more deeply about this topic. Sure it takes skill to use an e-call effectively. I used them for years with success. There comes a time when you realize that eventually we will pass down our knowledge to the youth with interest in our passions. For me saying “oh just play pup distress and they come running “ isn’t what I plan on leaving. Teaching the skill of hand and diaphragm calling is something I will leave behind. The gratification of calling a predator with your own lungs is like no other feeling! Some of my most memorable hunts have been with a hand or diaphragm call. For anyone reading this…please try it, you will find the sounds that work great for your area!!! Some of Wades comments are area specific as it pertains to hand calls. Diaphragm calls require little to no movement. This keeps your hands on the shotgun or rifle for that crucial moment! Wade also states that he uses handcalls in open country, where I have great success in hardwood thickets as well as open areas. Calling less frequently and making them hunt you is the ticket! Part of the challenge of using a handcall is finding that area you can funnel a predator into while keeping the wind in your favor. Hunting predators is hard, it’s a grind some days. Most people that stick with it are persistent and don’t give up! Predator hunting is challenging. Beating a predator at its own game is one of the most exhilarating feelings! What one defines as “beating them at their game” is not up to me, but I’d say hand and Diaphragm calls is close, if not the best way. In closing I challenge whoever is reading this to ask yourself what will your legacy be….what will you leave behind? Will you teach our youth how to handle fur, will you teach them the art of hand and diaphragm calling? Ask yourself what will preserve our sport of predator hunting for future generations? Hey side kick? You still think drone attacks on wild life will preserve our sport, please think before you speak. Your position is more important than you know. I stand by my comment, You have button pushers and you have real Wolfers, the e-call has its place(depredation, nuisance wild life) but the guy that hunts for the challenge eventually looses the e-call and learns the language. I enjoyed the podcast! Keep it up boys!

I asked someone who thought long range hunting was unethical. Similar to pulling teeth, I had to keep trying until the tooth finally came free. What was the only ethical range someone should shoot. He finally relented and said 400 yards. In that case, why doesn't he just rule like a king and say that no one needs anything more than a .308 or a .30-06? All other rifles are vanity. He never did respond. I can be most unfair in a debate.

Im not a "Boomer" but it seems like children are attempting to make it a derogatory term. My father is at the tail end of what is considered a baby boomer. I grew up around that generation and I greatly respect that generation because they went through a lot of crap and have a lot more skills than 99% of the millenials and later generations. It seems like its really disrespectful and without the guys who grew up in the 50's and 60s we would have lost our ability to own any of our guns. In the 60's-80s the second amendment was almost deleted. They stood up for those rights and they are the ones who who stopped it. You have to remember how horribly these people were treated because most of these shooters are vietnam veterans. Thats just the way i look at it. Technology is for the lazy, really. I use it to make up for my disability (Wounded in Afghanistan) Opinions are fine, everyone has one and its fine. Its called conversation but to personally attack a person to discriminate against them for their age seems petty and beneath you. I hear all sorts of garbage from everyone, younger and older. I speak on my opinion, but I like it when people can talk. I used to stalk, used to use blinds, tree climbers etc. Now i like to hunt hogs and will take a few deer each year for the holidays to feed the family. I encourage everyone to just hunt. Without it, we lose our connection to the past. I started turkey hunting a few years ago. My lease has a shoot on sight policy on coyotes, if you dont, they will not allow you to renew. I have coyote hunted a bit to get rid of them to save the quail we were getting ready to release. We are trying to bring quail back to the lease after a boom in coyote killed them all off. Respectfully, i enjoy your podcast i just wish you concentrated more on the content and less on the fluff and shit talking. Do you have a hunting channel?

Love this converstiong...I grew up in SoCal and only went dove hunting once when I was 13 where I found out I was right handed and left eye dom...could not hit anything with a 12ga, lol. I thought I had good coordination, so I decided to try bow hunting. I was dedicated and practicecd every day for over a year (usually shooting 200-300 arrows a session) before I signed up for a hunt on Santa Cruz Island for a Marino Sheep hunt. The other 7 hunters were more experienced and organized who would "drive" the cliff climbing sheep to the other half of the group at the top for an easy take. I was really surprized and opted out as my plan was to get close enough to know for certain I was not going to do anything but shoot a well-placed arrow with the Marino knowing nothing of my presence the whole time. On my way to spot I picked out on the topo map, here comes hundreds of sheep hauling ass by me and four guys yelling and chasing them. They pass me and run into the three waiting who began to shoot arrow after arrow after arrow into the group, not a clue what they hit or even taking the time to aim since the sheep were packed so close. I thought the same thing...this was not hunting, at least not my idea of it. That stuck with me and I never hunted in a group again. It wasn't even fun nor did it take much skill or patience which were all the things my dad and grandpa told me it took for a good hunt. They were from the Midwest before CA. Now, I love shooting, and long range shooting too, but I still won't take a shot I am not sure of. Because of that all my hunts have taken game within 70 yards and most of the time, within 25 yards. That first Marino Sheep I took with my bow was 10 feet away. I'd learned my skills in the Marines, shot expert with the A1, then A2 with iron sights, 5 times in my four years in the infantry because I loved shooting...best time spent has been shooting my gun! This guy claiming "it's not hunting"...I'd like to go hunting with him, see what he considers "hunting". Oh ya, that first hunt I went on to Santa Cruz Island...I shot a well placed arrow and the sheep ran like hell so me not knowing any better, wan after it, caught up and thought the best way to end the suffering was to cut it's throat while running along side it. It worked. Got two sheep that trip and ate very good BBQ for months of family get togethers. In the not to distant future, these people who think guns and hunting are bad are going to be begging for food and guns when they realize the idiot control-freak-globalists want us all gone so they can say they won, and that is all it's about. Learn to hunt while you can and buy a few guns to do it...that in itself sends the message to the tyrants, "We are not your slaves to be told anything and if you want my freedom, come take it yourself, COWARDS!"

@@txpredatorhuntingI see them all the time... long range is very opinionated though. It's not uncommon to have a 4-500 yard shot. I don't think it's guys trying to be "long range hunters" per se though. I think it's guys overestimating their own abilities. They think just because they can ring steel at 800yds on a flat range they can do it on an animal from a weird shooting position. That's the bigger problem imo. Know your max range and stick to it. Another big factor in AZ specifically is guys hate getting off the road for whatever reason. You see nothing but road hunters all day shooting right off the side of the dirt road.
