More suspiciously British-sounding Americans. Well, Brits are big in Hollywood: Idris Elba, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch... why not me? Oh, right - they can all do a convincing American accent. I've been concentrating on the writing side of things recently but I'm going to try to put more effort into making videos and be more regular with uploads from now on. And we'll just have to see how long that resolution lasts.

Nicely done, although the suspension of disbelief required here is up to 11.

Hey man, i just found out about your channel a couple days ago. I started hearing your work through Sci-Fi short stories. I even saw your message to the uploader about how you had written Deadly, Deadly humans some 9 years ago or so and were astonished to hear it. It was good. Some of the best most well thought out alien-mind stories I've ever heard. I'm just going to be totally honest with you, I want to hear more about that universe you had made. I was fascinated with the idea of humans being the only carnivorous intelligence species, and I liked the psychology(s) of some of the other alien species you had set up. I've listened to some of your other stuff, and I'm not going to say I didn't enjoy it, but I probably wouldn't have subscribed or kept listening had I not known you wrote those other original works. I know it was awhile ago when you wrote that stuff, and if that is a chapter in your life you have no interest in revisiting, fair enough. That's completely your decision, don't take this like I'm trying to pressure you. But I just feel like it's worth mentioning it's why I'm here, and I'm probably not alone in that. So maybe just give it some thought. Personally I really liked it because it's an aspect that Star Trek used to touch on a little bit in the past, but has totally abandoned as of late, in favor of pretty CGI, more explosions, and recycling villains. (And also crying and swearing for some reason). It was like a breath of fresh air to hear some good story telling that wasn't just "Such and such fought so and so for a billion years" Edit: In hindsight that, this was Apropos for this video's story.

Everything in the Deadly, Deadly Humans setting apart from the original story was written in the last couple of months (since I discovered the Deadly Deadly Humans video on Sci-Fi Stories and realised people were actually interested in it). I've been writing other stuff for this channel but I let Sci-Fi Stories continue posting my new HFY work because 1) it seemed fair because I would never have gone back to it if he hadn't posted that vid, and 2) it's good publicity. So keep checking the WRickWrites playlist on Sci-Fi Stories for new additions. As for my work on this channel, I always intended it to be a wide range of material rather than just what appeals to my Deadly, Deadly Humans audience. Stick around though, because there will be similar hard sci-fi stories every so often. Btw, what did you think of 'The First Astronomer'? Because that's the closest thing I've posted to Deadly, Deadly Humans so far. I'll keep adding to the Deadly, Deadly Humans setting, but I don't want to burn myself out on it. Also, as you say, it's been a long time since that original story - just passed the 10th anniversary now - and I'm not in the same place I was back then (in fact I'm still not convinced I captured the same tone in the follow-up stories). I've always been the sort of writer who bounces from project to project anyway so there may be periods where you just have to wait for me to circle back around to it, but don't worry, I haven't abandoned it. If you want to keep up to date with the Deadly, Deadly Humans stories, check out my subreddit; I post them there first and it often takes a few weeks for Sci-Fi Stories to get around to posting them.

@@WRickWrites-qy8pq Well that's good to know. Yes I'm devouring all of them I can find. It's great that you're keeping up with that universe. I take an especially keen interest because I'm also going to start writing soon too. I've decided to start with small shorts like this before working my way into something bigger. I have a universe to expand on (and a grand plan for it later too). One of the key points was "how would a species develop if it were in X, Y, Z, ways different from humans". Star trek liked to delve in the politics of alien races, but they never truly wanted to flesh out an alien race. Yours came probably the closest to it, at least that I've heard. I love the idea of a narration from the perspective of aliens about humans rather than the reverse. Also, yes I did just watch the first astronomer. I don't know if I'd really say it was similar to deadly, deadly humans, but I did enjoy it. An interesting idea about a society developing on a world without direct sunlight or apparently terra ferma.
