Note: Don't worry, you aren't losing it; this IS a re-upload. The initial upload had an issue with getting pushed and notifying people, so I am trying again. I may have tanked my video's hits with a poorly named title, so I made some SEO changes, which is why it does not have the same title and description. In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have named the last one "Magnum Exploded A Parrot." If you had watched this and left a comment or a like before, thank you very much! And thank you for your patience.

Yes, Magnum had plenty of light-hearted moments but it was *far* from a goofy series. Many of the Vietnam War references and others were quite poignant. Magnum holds up much, much better than most 1980s U.S. TV series.

There have also been several movies that used a cat's death for comedic effect, usually by having a car or lawnmower suddenly hit a bump while a distressed cat sound plays. I've also seen a couple films and tv shows that do the same or similar with a dog, but not nearly as often.

Fun bird fact, peregrine falcons sound like a bomb falling on you when they dive. I got the startle of my life when after listening to a weird whistling sound for a few seconds seemingly coming from nowhere when what I assume was a pigeon flapping like a bat out of hell passed like 5 feet above my head, shortly to be followed by a missile of a bird gently extending a wing to adjust it's course after the pigeon. They disappeared over the roofs of the houses across the street so... I'm assuming it got it's lunch.

This show always sprinkled in crazy, over the top goofy episodes like this throughout the seasons, and yes, the humor was always basic slapstick and children's show level humor. The only Magnum, P.I. episode I remember specifics about is "I Witness" because it's a send-up of Rashomon, which is an Akira Kurosawa classic about the unreliability of witnesses. With all the episodes Murder, She Wrote had, you'd think they'd have had a Rashomon-inspired episode, but I can't seem to find one. However, you did ask for a MSW suggestion, so how about "Benedict Arnold Slipped Here" ? It was Tom Bosley's last appearance on the show as Amos Tupper.

A lady goes to her parish priest one day and tells him, "Father, I have a problem. I have two female parrots but they only know how to say one thing." "What do they say?" the priest inquired. "They say, 'Hi, we're prostitutes. Do you want to have some fun?'" the woman said embarrassingly. "That's obscene!" the priest exclaimed, "I can see why you are embarrassed." He thought a minute and then said, "You know, I may have a solution to this problem. I have two male parrots whom I have taught to pray and read the Bible. Bring your two parrots over to my house and we will put them in the cage with Francis and Job. My parrots can teach your parrots to praise and worship. I'm sure your parrots will stop saying that...that phrase in no time." "Thank you," the lady responded, "this may very well be the solution." The next day, she brought her female parrots to the priest's house. As he ushered her in, she saw his two male parrots were inside their cage, holding their rosary beads and praying. Impressed, she walked over and placed her parrots in with them. After just a couple of seconds, the female parrots exclaimed out in unison, "Hi, we're prostitutes. Do you want to have some fun?" There was a stunned silence. Finally, one male parrot looked over at the other male parrot and said, "Put the beads away, Francis, our prayers have been answered!"

If you look at the list of guest stars , a lot of them were famous actors in the 30 ‘ s 40’s and 50’s . The woman holding the gun in the caption is a actress from the 30’s . A lot of the older Hollywood crowd loved the show because of Tom sellecks classic rugged good looks , he reminded them of a old style Hollywood leading man . Go back and look through the name of male and female guest stars and you’ll see what I’m talking about . The one most noticeable will be Frank Sinatra There was also a cross over with Simon and Simon
