Pentagon Spokesperson Ken Bacon was flat wrong in claiming that de-militarizing a Harrier would render it flightless. That’s absurd. Besides, civilian pilots are permitted to own and fly decommissioned military aircraft (including jets) with FAA approval and the proper license certifications-and there are plenty that do. In fact, there’s a retired military pilot in the U.S. (who’s long since become a civilian) that owns and flies a Harrier for demonstrations.

I watched this once, about a year ago. The reason why I re-watched it was because I was watching Top Gun. Then just for laughs I decided to look at private fighter jets for sale and lo and behold, they had a used Harrier in the classifieds for 7.8 million dollars. So clearly it can be stripped of it's weaponry and be obtained by anyone with a nearly 8 million dollar hole burning in their pockets. It's trendy for the ultra wealthy to be on the tarmac in their Gulfstream G550 private jets. Nothing would be more baller than doing a vertical landing in a Harrier right next to the chumps in their G5 haha. Just dreaming about being rich an eccentric. I do wish Pepsi gave that kid a Harrier. It was a clever idea. I like people who think outside the box. I hear of people suing corporations for "false advertising" if that doesn't constitute false advertising, then what does?

Atleast in my culture a promise or oath is sacred even if it was made facetiously or while intoxicated and because of this words have meaning and gravity people speak less flippantly. Thats half the problem with modern culture you can say anything but mean none of it, politicians make promises they know they could never keep and people believe them.

You would have done the same thing and been right to do it. She wasn't the first to be badly hurt, but was the first to do something about it. The Harrier prize was clearly a joke, although they should have seriously chosen a huge number like 7 trillion to make that point clear. As far as the #349 pop top issue goes I have no idea why Pepsi didn't immediately have banner headlines and run commercials admitting to this error, and stating that this mix up was purely the fault of one person, who got the number wrong. They could have turned the mistake into a big promotion opportunity, like announcing that they were having a special #349 concert where the admission ticket was a #349 pop top, and then give out free food and Pepsi drinks, and commemorative #349 Pepsi tee shirts at the private event that highlighted the fact that everybody makes mistakes.

There's just no world in which you could say no person could reasonably take it as an actual thing, and combine that with no actual disclaimer (and Pepsi essentially admitting it was indeed true by trying to change the exchange price) and it's pretty open and shut.
