Love the haunting sound of The CURE since I was a teenager. Long carreer : after 40 years, Robert Smith became a Legend all over the world. This man is still so amazing, kind, brilliant, creative and charming ! Just like heaven...

The reference to Lol as a blanket is a direct consequence of Lol problems with alchool. He was kicked out during Disintegration album recording, because he was always drunk. Lol took many years to recover but in the end he behaved like a man and apologized to everyone. Lol is back into the band, altough he is not an active member. Much of what the band is was merit of Lol, everyone knows that.

You can see the realization that the day was coming, given Lol's diminished role and abilities within the band, not to mention his alcoholism.

Lol was in serious trouble with boozing. Everybody knew it. but him. He got kicked out as a measure of intervention. Remember the core of the band are family. And Robert kept Lol on the payroll, long after he wasn't involved with the band. And when Lol tried to sue Robert and Simon, he was still out of his mind. Lol is not like that anymore. He got his mind clear, and even though he is not physically in the group anymore, he is still family with Robert and Simon.

Lol did what he had to, and so did Robert and the band. The fact that he’s credited with writing on disintegration despite is minuscule Role, and that they didn’t remove him from the band until after the album was done, shows how much they value him and care about him. Sending someone away is not always abandonment.

I think he likes working with people who want to work with him, that contribute to their output & is a positive force in the band (or at least not a corrosive force)

Smith should really cut his hair and go back to something like this, especially now that he's gained tons of weight. The current Gene Simmons helmet/abandoned bird's nest "look" is not at all flattering to him. Looks like a crazed melting cat lady or a grandma that cakes on her makeup now...
