By the way, Elvis Costello's song used to, and still does, send a shiver down my spine, he hit the nail squarely on the head and spoke for the disenfranchised non-believers in 'Thatcherism!' Let's not forget what it was like.

Given PM Cameron's eulogy to Maggie I now realise how she '& Jimmy Savile on an undercover mission, led troops & saved the Falklands.I now also recall her rising majestically,at the back stick at Wembley in 1966,to head the winner & win the World Cup for England just days after hitting a winning six against the "Aussies" to win the Ashes. How could I not remember Maggie playing lead guitar for the Rolling Stones. What a woman! Many thanks to Fat Dave for reminding us what we are now missing!!!

Some admire her because she was strong, I'd say strength is fine, but you have to know when you're wrong. Maggie was wrong often and even her supporters thought so, we're still suffering the consequences of her 'reign'.

When I listen to this song, my anger isn't directed towards thatcher or Thatcherism like the British, but towards neoconservatism. Incompetent Obama is no savior, but I have little reason not to revile the neocons who put us in this situation, nor the ones trying to take power. I'm not left or right, I'm inbetween, but when would-be leaders insult my interests and intelligence so bluntly and shamelessly, I feel like tramping down the dirt on their graves as well.

Same council house. But heres the fucking twist! social mobility under labour went backwards for the first time in over 50 years. They are all the same. but if thatcher was bad, and i like costello, then i hope he writes a suitably apt song for those who really betrayed the working class one day.bless thatcher

what you don't understand is that though the woman's been out of politics for years, a lot of her policies remain!! if you're one of the fortunate ones that wasn't effected by her, either financially or socially, then good for you!! for the rest of us who suffered under her (i'm from n. ireland), her death is symbolic.... it's closure, the end of an era!! it's got nothing to do with improving lives.... or socialist dreams!! someone who brought so much misery to so many is now dead!

Why can't she comment? So you cannot have an opinion on any historical matter unless you were alive (sorry an adult) at that time? If your careful enough to read the girls comment, you'll find it has nothing to do with "Thatchers Legacy" or her opinion on it, she merely stated why she feels the masses are celebrating Thatchers death! And she's right too, it is a release. What the fuck else are we gonna do, go shout at her coffin? She was alive last week why didn't you go harp on at her then?

Lauded all over Eastern Europe for setting them free; ended the Cold War; kept the Falklands British; helped ordinary people own their own homes; many owning shares too. Stopped state Socialism. Defeated Scargill's betrayal of the miners; revolutionised the City, no longer pinstripe; kept the strategic peace. What have you contributed, Elvis Costello?

@sacrilige lol mislead? have you ever even listened to Fidel's words? Fidel removed an unpopular dictator who the US kept in power because he was friendly to US businesses instead of protecting the Cuban people. After the rev in Cuba, Cuba according to the UN has the highest literacy rate on the planet. Also has the most doctors per capita. Cuban doctors even go abroad to warzones to treat people. Whenever I argue with a capitalist either here or in the real world I see weak arguments.

Thirty years too late and should have been dancing at the end of a rope. Sorry, Definitely not worth it. I hate it when people call her 'The Milk Snatcher' She did that as Education Secretary under pedo.. er sorry, Prime Minister Edward Heath. It is so trite: She did so much more than that. She casually ruined peoples' lives and almost single-handedly sold Britain's future to her friends in the City.

Are you replying to me? Because I agree with you. She sounds like an awful woman and I don't know why our president is applauding her as an inspiration.
