I've had one of these for a while never new it was toxic but I had one in Australia growing at a base of a tree and it flowered and it looked like a big corn comb 🌽 it was also huge and the tenticals can grow on and up the tree.

A grandma gave me one of these as a child. It grew to about 7 feet, and was just a monster. Lovely plant. Good to know the new classifications, they change too often, I wish they publicly announced those better. Never knew they loved humidity that much either, I lived in Utah when I grew mine, and it thrived because I dumped water on her all the time. She did drink like a fish. Great video, thanks for the information!

I got a Philodendron Shangri-La as a smaller, compact version, but it is not doing well for me. The stems are elongated so that the large leaves droop. Leaves are turning yellow, also.

I have one but it's just one long stem with leaves separated about 6-8 inches apart. It's getting too tall so I'd like to cut and propagate it. Can I do it the same way as I would a pothos with a node, a leaf and some roots? If I cut it will it encourage side shoots? I can't find any of this information and mine doesn't seem to look like anyone else's. 😂

How big is he? You may need support rods until his softwood is strong enough. Norfolk's wood has never really been used for shipbuilding or furniture crafting. It's among the softest/most flexible out there. How much light does he receive? The more light the stronger he'll be. I moved both of mine outside for the summer and they're both loving the 6+ hours of light they get.

Yes, as they age they'll start to develop a woody center stem that gives them this common name. It resembles an octopus tentacle turned over, I think.

@@DG-iw3yw Latin was chosen as the language for scientific nomenclature precisely because the pronunciation can be harmonized. This doesn't mean that it is the same pronunciation as in the Roman Empire but there is a standard way to pronounce Latin. How do you pronounce words in any other language? Do you always pronounce words as if they were written in English? Spaghetti, patio, etc.? You should realize that the pronunciation is not trivial precisely in this case because people might think that the plant this guy is showing belongs to the same family as the tomato plant LOL
