RE: My recommendations for the type of Niacin. You won't have options for buying this vitamin (synthetic or natural). The only thing to keep in mind with buying niacin, to get the benefits I described is that you want the one that creates the flushing response. The non-flush doesn't give you the heart benefits, however, does give different benefits.

This is a game changer! I'm 58 year old male in good shape, except I was struggling with high BP for about 7 months. At first they said because I had kidney stones at the time, (because of the chronic pain) I had high BP. However, after the stones were removed, BP went down, but... not as much as I (or my Dr.'s would like). I was still around 140(145)/86(90). Lost 10 pounds, no change in BP. Went for a CTA heart scan with contrast, ZERO plague all is clear, no issues at all. BUT.. BP was still high. I have been taken Losartin 25 mg the whole time.. After 4 days of Niacin, BP steady at 117/71, my Dr. wants me to stop using Losartin and see what happens... Thanks Dr. Berg!!!

He would have me go into Kroger‘s and buy every bottle that they had on the shelf at the time. I don’t know how many milligrams he took each day but it was a lot. Dr Berg, thank you so much for this video on Niacin! I recently had an arrythmia episode that I had to go to emergency for because it lasted 2 hours at a heart rate of 200!! Afterwards I had every major sign of a coming heart attack with both chest and left arm pain. My cardiologist never mentioned that I would have heart inflammation from such an episode or gave me anything for it so I suffered for almost a month. Then I took the Niacin as you said with the flushing effect. It worked wonders within just 3 days when all of my heart symptoms completely disappeared!!! They don’t tell you that an episode like that is like climbing Mt Everest for 2 hours only sitting still! So somehow the Niacin lowered my heart inflammation level along with other things. I did go back and do a stress test with my cardiologist and I’m waiting for the results now to follow. I just know that I’m going to be much more open to alternatives to what the medical community wants to prescribe for me and you definitely made that difference for me! God bless you and keep on informing the public! 😃

@@cynthiaparris7549 Hi, I got mine at a vitamin & health food store for $12.00 in the “Solaray” brand. Make sure you get actual Niacin with the “flush”, meaning it can flush your face or make it turn red. I found that if I take it with food it’s not so bad, but the first time I took it my face turned beet red for half an hour! That was probably because I was low in Niacin at the time which is actually vitamin B-3. I also want to say that if you are having a heart arrythmia, this causes inflammation in the heart that can cause chest and left arm pain. But I believe Niacin helped reduce that inflammation for me. So get a stress test done to determine if it’s clogged arteries or an electrical problem in your heart. Mine is electrical and the beta blocker the cardiologist put me on has really helped. Lastly, if you have clogged arteries, look for natural cures before surrendering to modern medicine. I know of a company with a great chelation product that dissolves plaque in the arteries that I could share with you if you need it. I wish you well.

Hi Dr Berg, thsnk uou so much for this video. About 30 years ago, it was suggested by my family doctor that I take the flushing type of niacin, as I had high cholesterol...and it seemed to help me. I'm almost 72 yrs old and I'm on a looow fat keto diet and am doing intermittent fasting 18 hrs a day, with the odd 22-24 hour fast. I've had type 2 diabetes for 6.5 years, going from 13.3 to 6.5 just using diet. I'm currently on the Fall Beat Diabetes challenge, and after 2 months on the challenge, I got to 6.4 - into pre-diabetes range, when there was still a month of non challenge eating. My AM blood glucose numbers have been consistently in the 4s since being on the challenge, so I'm thrilled with that. My quarterly blood tests have come back with lipid readings my "about to retire" family doctor couldn't make any sense of them. So, I've been referred to a CardiacRisk Clinic and they think I have familial hypercholesterolemia and want to put me on a statin. I've asked to be put on something else and suggested niacin. I was told to go with the ezedimide (?) and hold off on the niacin. Do you think that someone with FHC could be helped by niacin? I've been asked if I'd like to take part in a study of FHC, which would include getting a DNA test to determine if I really do have FHC, so I'll likely go with that just so I know for certain if I have it. In watching one of Dr Paul Mason's videos and checking my triglyceride/HDL ratio, it's in the good range; my triglycerides are good and my HDL is good. So Im confused. Are the doctors at the cardiac risk clinic just not up on the effects of the keto diet and intermittent fasting on regular lipid panels? Your thoughts on this topic sometime would be appreciated. Supposedly 1 in 500 have FHC, so I'm sure there are lots of people as confused as I am on this topic. Many thanks, in advance. Yours in Gratitude

Oh Dr. Berg...I turned 60 in October and I feel horrible. In 2019 and 2020 I subscribed to your channel and a few other recommended channels. I was 60lbs overweight and my blood pressure was through the roof. I tried Keto and IF and felt so much better within a week. I had great results. But...I stopped for some reason and it has all slipped away. I plan to binge watch all the most relevant videos in your arsenal and get it back. I feel horrible. My poor intestinal track from eating gluten is in bad shape. I can barely get out of bed. I hurt everywhere. I am going on a dream vacation to Maui in March with my son's family and I don't want to go feeling like this. I will admit I've been trying to start again since the first of October with no luck. I dug out my old journals from 2 years ago to see what motivated me then and I believe it was you. So I know you will probably never see this comment but if you do...please help me.

Thankyou Dr Berg. I had a partially blocked popliteal artery ( on the underside of my knee ) on new year's day & after consultation , had an implant ( stent ) inserted by the vascular surgeon. I was then put on anti platelet medication ( Clopidogrel) & ( Aspirin) blood thinners, to counteract potential clotting / or further blockage. Prior to this event I considered myself very fit, usually walking 5km / day & adhering to a low cal diet. Now I feel apprehensive about my potential jeopardy . I have chosen to forego the advice of the vascular surgeon & instead take Nattokinase twice daily with 8oz water on an empty stomach + 200mg Niacin twice daily. My intention is to be objective & have a follow up blood test & possibly an ultrasound or CT scan, to form a comparative analysis & confirm or deny if I made a wise decision. I pray this was an appropriate choice ⁉️

Thank you Dr. Berg, I enjoy your videos as well. Just some information that might help with some questions out there. I can tell you from my own experience on and off I have taken nicotinic acid for years. For me I've always stuck with the unbuffered/rapid-release niacin, not extended-release, and I cycle it, meaning I don't take it every day, and I only take it when I feel like crap (brain fog and/or really lethargic and stuffy/congested). It works really well for this. A couple of things to be aware of... 1) Start by taking the smallest dose that produces the "flushing" effect. For me it was 250mg (500 cut in half). On an empty stomach the "flush" will come on pretty quickly (15-20 minutes after dosing), and will last for 20-30 minutes (or longer for some people). I actually like what it does, the heat, the redness, the clearing of your mind and your sinuses (something you don't experience with any other vitamin). If you fear that it will be too much of a shock to your system, eat something prior to dosing and it will buffer the effects (delay/minimize). I prefer NOT to buffer because I want the maximum benefit (LOL). 2) After getting used to taking, when the dose no longer produces the "flush", you can move up to 500mg (the most I've ever needed). 3) Cycle it. Take it only when you need it (when you feel like crap), and don't overdo it. For me it's one or two days on, and three or four days off. The reason I do it is because I have firsthand experience and know what will happen if you don't cycle. Look at it kind of like fasting, where you give your body some time to normalize itself/to heal. In fact, I'd recommend cycling just about anything you put in your body (just my opinion)...

I started taking Niacin all on my own after seeing the blood fasting lab showing my cholesterol was so high and the doctor told me that was good and she recommended I keep taking it with the Crestor she prescribed. @@kaleenajean - You want the niacin that causes flush. You get used to it the more you take it. It’s also good for the skin because it brings blood to the surfaces of the skin. Lots of female models take it to improve skin health. Body builders take it because it also helps with building muscle along with high protein diet. My primary form of Niacin supplementation is 1/4 lb of beef liver twice a week. It's less than $5 for a pound of 4 individually wrapped, frozen portions.

How do you prepare it? I think we can find powdered beef liver. I wonder if that will have enough niacin

@@jenninemorel7693 Liver tastes nasty on its own. Make your own sausage or in my grocery store I can find ground meat that is half liver or organ meat half beef and make a sausage paddy with breakfast. Half beef helps with the taste.

God bless you Dr Berg! I was at the cardiologist last week for afib. The dr had a list of possible treatments. Pacemaker, ablation, pads. He never mentioned the foods or niacin that can help. He did say my heart can heal itself and that’s what I want to do. He’s ordering stress test and heart monitor. But I might put the Kabash on anything else. Thank you for all you do for us.

Hi Dr. Berg, Actually, I’m now 56. When I was 43, I had hi cholesterol and my cardiologist ordered me to take statins. I was taking, at that time, 20 mgr of Lipitor. The sensation was that my body had trouble to repair itself. I mean, I had pain in my muscles, joints, teeth, nails… Even lesions lasted longer to heal. I got scared and I started to read about it. I learned that statins have long term effects in the heart. I got really skeptical about my doctor, I stop taking the pills and tried to find another way to solve the cholesterol issue. As the time past by, I started to walk and swim. At any time, I found your videos on KZitem and I started to adjust my way of living: Intermittent fasting, keto when possible (as family habits is something to deal with) and lemon juice with ACV. After 13 years, my weight is now stabilized on 76kg, I swim 2Km on Saturdays and, when possible, I run 15-20 minutes on Sundays. I recently started functional training on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and even when I have not checked my blood figures I am feeling terrific. By the way, thanks Dr. Berg for your help as I didn’t do it before… I am pretty sure I am in the right path.

Niacin is a nice short term solution, but realize that long term use will cause an imbalance of the other B vitamins. Perhaps cycling niacin with a B Complex supplement might be a good long term strategy.
