Nice selection sir. American Beauty is an album i was searching for years when i was living in France prior moving to America. I had not hooked to the Grateful Dead's universe, but during the covid period as i was watching a very special video of Niamh the Prog Nerd which she did with her father, the way he was talking about this album has captivated and moved me. Believe it or not this is the 1st vinyl record that i bought/found ( in Mofi !!) when I got here. Ripples is such a great moving song that blew off my mind the first time i listened to it.

Ive never understood the massive hype behind Astral Weeks. I own it and have tried repeatedly to "Get it" The music is decent enough though but this is more of a album that someone would have to be in a certain mood for. I'd take Moondance over Astral any day of the week. I think this album, and I could put Pet Sounds in the same category, has had the decades really hypeing up these albums up into legend Classic Rock status.

I've watched a number of videos on this thread , and so far , your selections align most closely with my taste in music . I absolutely love your picks of Spirit , Chicago , and XTC . This is a tough one , because you have to fight your inclination to include favourites on this list . Here's a shot at my list : Cat Stevens : Catch Bull at Four. ( Tea for the Tillerman is probably his best album , but I keep going back to this one ) Jethro Tull : Living in the Past. ( a great early compilation that included unreleased tracks at the time , some album tracks , and some live ones as well ) The Beatles : A Hard Day's Night ( having grown up with them from the start , this is the best of their early years , and it's great ) Supertramp : Crime of the Century. ( guilty ! this is a top 10 favourite for me , and it's a perfect album ) Little Feat : The Last Record Album ( every time that I listen to it , it gets better ) The Rolling Stones : Aftermath ( US Version ). ( I think that Sticky Fingers is a better album , but I listen to this one a lot more ) Bruce Cockburn : Salt Sun & Time. ( just sit back and listen to his wonderful guitar playing and vocals ) Elton John : Honky Chateau. ( the first one that I bought by him , and still my favourite , with Don't Shoot Me a close second ) The Doobie Brothers : The Captain & Me. ( an album for all seasons , and , any time of day or night ) Stevie Wonder's Greatest Hits Vol. 2. ( Innervisions is my favourite , but this one scoops up a lot of his early classics ) I'll cheat too : Squeeze : ArgyBargy. (. if you need to hear some great power pop , this is the one ) Honourable Mentions : Neil Young : Harvest The Pretenders : Learning to Crawl Fleetwood Mac : Fleetwood Mac Earth Wind & Fire : All 'N' All Linda Ronstadt : Hasten Down the Wind Chicago : Chicago II XTC : Black Sea Spirit : 12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus Kansas : Leftoverture Pink Floyd : Dark Side of the Moon Dire Straits : Making Movies The Doors : Morrison Hotel Jimi Hendrix : Experience Henrix Max Webster : High Class in Borrowed Shoes Thanks !!!!

My "old pair of slippers" basically are my Top 10 albums. That's why they're my favorite albums. I guess it also has to do with the fact that I got into the 1964 - 1974 music decade during the early to mid '80's. Yet not one '80's album makes my 10 albums I listen to the most. The Police's "Synchronicity", Bruce Springsteen's "Born In The U.S.A." and U2's "The Joshua Tree" would have made my list in the late '80's/ early '90's, but not today. Only Nirvana's "Nevermind" makes my list from after 1977. And all are in my Top 20 albums of all time. But, The Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds" is my second most listened to album, yet would only rank around #15 on my all-time list. And ones that rank high, like The Who's "Who's Next" is #5 on my all time list, yet didn't make my 10 most listened to albums. My ten most listened to albums: "Sgt. Pepper" The Beatles "Pet Sounds" The Beach Boys "Abbey Road" The Beatles "The Dark Side Of The Moon" Pink Floyd "Led Zeppelin IV" Led Zeppelin "Rumours" Fleetwood Mac "Nevermind" Nirvana "Hotel California" Eagles "Let It Bleed" The Rolling Stones "The White Album" The Beatles

Hi 👋 I agree with you on that it depends on what mood I'm in when it comes to listening pleasure. I have a large collection of music from the 1960s to the early 2000s. I like jazz too. I'm listening to soulful singer Roy Ayers at the moment. I like Jefferson Airplane too, i remember the song Somebody to Love from 1966 on the radio when i was young. When they became Jefferson Starship in the 1970s, they put out a good album titled Red Octupus in 1975. I like the song Miracles from that record. REM were very good, Michael Stipe wrote and sang good songs. Thanks for your video.
