I have lived in Kansas my whole life and love it. I always think, if you are looking for trouble you will find it anywhere you go. My sister has been in so much trouble and had issues that you talk about, but I have had very little. The worst thing I have had was when my sister borrowed my car for the weekend and then let her at the time bf take it to go get ciggies, because she was too lazy to get up. He never came back with it. About a week later it was left running in some people's driveway. It was full of gang and drug signia so the police said and it was totalled. I've had a few tickets that I felt were not my fault, but doesn't almost everyone think that too. Lots of open space, farms and hundreds of small crappy impoverished towns like the ones mentioned. I can tell you this, there are some very nice affluent areas in Topeka, I know, I've seen it with my own eyes! I go to KC all the time, and guess what, the Power and Light district downtown is a major tourist draw with wonderful bars, restaurants, jazz clubs and nightlife. Leawood and Overland Park are two of the most affluent communities in the country.
