I wouldn't be too hard on him. Jeff Fischer led was one of those teams he was stuck on and Jeff had Jared Goff, Nick Foles, and Case Keenum. Three QBs who got to Championship games and he somehow made them all look like shit and basically ruined all of their careers. Only Jared was spared since the Rams snagged McVay from the Skins. I don't blame Foles. Name one QB Fischer ever made look good. Bum coach.

@@renaldoawes2210 Yep. Also when Foles went to the Jaguars, he threw one complete dime for a TD in his first game and immediately was injured on that play. I don't think he was ever the same after that injury (Though he did beat Brady again and that is awesome)

Injuries and getting traded to bad teams twice (once for Sam freaking Bradford, once back when Wentz was still considered the future) derailed his career. He would've had a much better career otherwise. Maybe not HOF good but similar to Flacco I think. Three different running backs too. He had an excellent offensive line, a Hall of Fame receiver, and built around that. Regarding Hostetler, probably the greatest offensive play by the Giants in Super Bowl XXV was (seen at 12:28 in this video) when WR Mark Ingram (father of the more recent RB of the same name) caught a pass on 3rd & 14, and managed to break about 7 tackles to reach the first down marker, and preserve what would become the then longest drive in Super Bowl history, and a critical part of NY keeping the ball away from Buffalo's offense (that drive was over 10 minutes, more than half of the total time of possession Buffalo had all game). The whole thing that made that play so impressive was Ingram's heroics in picking up the first down. For some reason, no one asks why Hostetler threw the ball six yards short of the line to gain, with so many defenders between his target and the marker. Basically, Hostetler's best act in that game was not fumbling when he was sacked in the end zone, where the defender had a grip on his forearm, preventing him from tucking the ball to safety. I use Hostetler and Dilfer as my prime arguments against the need to go all in for a top pick franchise QB. In five Super Bowls played by the NY Giants, the superior QB lost every game. Phil Simms beat John Elway, Jeff Hostetler beat Jim Kelly, Trent Dilfer beat Kerry Collins, and Eli Manning beat Tom Brady, twice. It's the same for most of this list. Namath beat Unitas (and Morrall), Plunkett beat Theisman, Williams beat Elway, Foles beat Brady (how weird is it that Brady went out and beat Kurt Warner, Donovan McNabb and Patrick Mahomes, while losing to Manning & Foles?), Rypien beat Kelly. Flacco is the only one to beat his objectively inferior counterpart.

About Jim Plunkett... The Patriots sucked when they drafted Plunket with the result of him getting his ass kicked every game. When he was traded to the 49ers they also sucked. Jim continued to get his ass kicked every game. Al Davis traded for Plunkett, giving up very little, and the first thing he told Plunkett was not to worry about playing for a couple years. The Raiders were paying him to recover and heal physically and mentally. The rest is history. Jim became the starter and gave us a glimpse of what he might have been had he started out on a better team.

Going 2-0 in Super-bowls, Plunkett had 4 TD's, zero interceptions, and has the second best ever passer rating (122.8 QB rating), I'd think this would keep him off this list. ...only Joe Montana is better at 127.8, and he won the Heisman Trophy, and was the first minority to win the SB and his Raider 80' team was first wildcard SB winner. Most of his early career was bad because he was on piss poor teams (with no pass protection) and he got destroyed.

What about the other great QBs? you ask? Montana - 2 (1988 @Chicago, 1993 @Houston) Elway - 3 (1986 @Cleveland, 1997@KC, @Pittsburgh) Manning - 2 (2003 @KC, 2006@Baltimore) Mahomes - 2 (2023@Buffalo, 2023@Baltimore) Staubach - 4 (1971@Minnesota, 1975@Minnesota, @LA, 1978@LA), not including the 1972 game against the 49ers as a reliever, which he mounted a comeback win 30-28.

An entire legacy built on one game (that his defense deserves a lot of the credit for) and a guarantee.

I'm a Nick Foles stan. When he had good Eagles teams around him he was a top 10 QB in the league easily. Under Chip Kelly he took the Eagles to the playoffs and lost because the defense gave up a FG after a game-winning drive. Then he played for BAD teams like the Rams later on the Jags (He also got hurt after he threw a TD on his first play as the Jags QB). After the Rams he came back to Philly. With a good team around him he excelled again. Won a SuperBowl then took the team on another run that should've ended in another SB appearance if Alshon Jeffery didn't drop an easy game winning TD against the Saints. After that game against the Saints the Eagles moved on from him again when they shouldn't have. If Jeffery catches that ball the Eagles are moving on to the NFC Chip again for the second year in a row. He won a super bowl. Should've been in the NFC Chip. Then they let him go. We'll never know what could've been if the Eagles kept the QB that brought them their first and only Superbowl. Having Foles on this list in criminal. Maybe 10th worst? But heck. Idk. Like I said I'm a Foles Stan.
