Local, state and government officials should be embarrassed. Then again, they are probably fully aware of how horrible these communities are. It's like a 3rd world country. These states are given millions of dollars to improve communities, and it's clear most of these haven't EVER seen funding. They turn their backs on our communities and send the funding elsewhere. I have personally witnessed here in the Midwest. Poor run down WHITE communities that have over the years, cleaned up, and rebuilt. This is so sad. Who's representing these communities? They have no one to speak for them. How can these places be left behind like this? Sure, people should try to better themselves and get out, but there are people who can't. These places are like some third world country. Sad part is some of them used to be good places to live. I know this because my Wife's Dad was born and raised in Pritchard, AL. He is 89 years old now. Residents were hard working people. Many worked in the timber and paper industry. We were in Pritchard for a family funeral a few years ago. I saw Pritchard for the first time in '71. Still had Family there. It was already in decline. What do every one of these places have in common? And what caused them to turn to crap? Well? What do you think is the problem? Sadly, this is slowly creeping into every city. Taking over working class neighborhoods. Just rot and decay. Same thing East and West, North and South.

Agree with Pritchard at #2. Live one town over and it is like night and day. It’s a sad story in that town. Crooks all in charge over there.

Serious truth. And for the youngsters, I'd like to point out: You think this is bad? It surely is. And in every town. There's a nabe like this in your town. But ask any old timer. Things used to be a LOT worse. Anyone BSing you about the "Good ol' days" is talking about a time when tarpaper shacks and dirt floors were common, when straying out of your neighborhood could get you killed. When it was flat-out impossible to climb out of the pit. Poverty and crime and gangs and dirty cops and corruption were far worse just a few generations ago. (I remember seeing tarpaper shacks and slum tenements just blocks from an Ivy League campus in the 90s. Seems like yesterday) When some jerk tells you the 50s were great... the poverty rate not only was over 20%, but the definition of poverty was far below what we'd term poverty now. Is Joe Sixpack regaling you with the "Economic boom" of the 80s? Yeah, he doesn't mention the shantytowns and tent cities that popped up everywhere, or the crime rate soaring to double what it is now.

In alot if these smaller towns you're viewing, the town had maybe one or two large companies that kept the town going but when these companies shut down there goes jobs, tax bases, and other things that people depend on. And if you grow up in a area where all you see is poverty and see how it drains people then I'd like to think that people would be more compassnate with their plight. It's just like coal states, namely Kentucky and West Virginia. Both of these states have proverty, bad or no decent housing, failing schools and of course when the coal barons leave all they leave behind are stripped mine mountains and empty coal mines. There are some families in certain parts of Kentucky who never know what it is to work. Proverty is a generational curse. Please show other towns to. Come to Kentucky or West Virginia and see that proverty doesn't discriminate.

@@marposted not at all look up the murder rates of these small towns and you will see they're worse. look up Pichard AL on city data in 2015 it had 14 Homicides with a population of only 21k that's a murder rate of 63 higher than detroit and chicago if pichard was a neighborhood in chicago it would be in the top 5 most dangerous hoods of chicago if it was a neighborhood of nyc it would be nr 1 much higher murder rate than brownsville.

@@dassolosyndikat5113 I mean of course the crime rates are gone be higher because the population is lower, a city with like 9k-10k ppl could be considered one of the most dangerous in the country because like two people where robbed there

@@marposted I said 14 homicides in a city of about 20k people! name one nyc neighborhood with 20k that has 14 murders. that`s atleast 1 murder a month. it`s not just 2 robberies and this is not even countin shootings without deaths, stabbings and fights. these small towns are just as bad if not worse than big cities. you can`t even hide nowhere in a rural town having beef there is really bad.

I lived there for 1 year Ran the Huddle House Drugs are so bad there Rapes and Violent crimes Severe poverty , nothing to do except drugs and sex and drinking Had to move back to Myrtle Beach South Carolina and get away from there. it was so bad. Seems like everyone in Mullins and Marion area were sleeping with each other’s girlfriends boyfriends husband and wives Severe depression and sadness there I put 2 cameras in the office One facing the dinning area and cook area One facing the back room where all the food was We caught workers stealing food Smoking pot Doing other drugs Having parties and having sex on the tables in the back room I fired them The next set of workers Did the same thing Fired them After a year of hell I left Soon after the man that owed it Sold it Then the Huddle House corporation shut it down

Gary is in the north. Plus this list is opinion based. Way worse looking towns than these, and as far as violence goes Opelousas would be the worst(if we’re talking about little towns). There was 9 murders there last year, that’s a lot for only 15,000 people. I just looked up Dawson Georgia and it’s crime rate is basically even with the national median

I’m Mississippi born and raised, Greenville my hometown, a lot of people have no idea how big the Delta really is. That’s why when people ask me about the Delta, I break it down to them as a whole. It’s multiple small towns in Arkansas could have easily made this list.

Being from South Carolina who ever made this video was most definitely sleeping on Allendale, Eastover, estill SC, bishopville, Darlington, yamessee, ect! Man really all of these places on this video look like places in south carolina. Really all of the south looks the same good and bad!
