My suggestion would be to add some safety to the electric wiring. You can't easily power down the system. Try adding for example the "3 Pin IEC320 C14" power switch. Another suggestion would be to add a shielding plate/housing to prevent touching the power lines close the power supply. Another issue I see is that filament can drop into the electronics. Maybe a sheet of acrylic can prevent this?

Consider mounting that power supply upside down to protect the fan.

Might I suggest something similar to Velcro self-grip straps rather than zip ties? It doesn't collect fuzz like traditional hook-and-loop Velcro, but it secures wires very well, is less likely to damage insulation, and is easily repositioned. It is used a lot in LAN cable management. I think model 189590 is the version I use. I can't wait to see the final product.

Yeah for sure, I was not happy with the cable ties on the toolhead since it might be that you have to remove them for maintenance on the toolhead which produces unnecessary plastic waste.

Your printer design looks impressive, though we'll have to see how it prints! ;)) However, I'm just as impressed with both your video production and your English. As a native speaker (American), and someone who has lived in Europe for over 7 years now, I know how to spot non-native speakers. You make very few mistakes in your script writing. Your pronunciation is very good, and that is very hard for even some native English speakers (both Brits and Yanks). And possibly due to your (native?) German grammar skills, your English grammar is excellent! Just hoping to encourage you to keep going with your channel. It obviously takes time to generate a following on KZitem, especially in a niche interest group, but I would guess you'll eventually have a large number of subscribers.

Ohh thx for your nice works. I will sure continue, even if it's a bit harder for me as for a native english speaker ;-)

@@MattThePrintingNerd you're doing fine, Matt. I just want to hear you say "Get to the chopper!" once. You've got Arnold down pretty well. My mother is native German, and I spent most of my preschool years in Deutschland. My first language was Deutsch, but when my father returned from Vietnam, we moved back to the States and that was the end of speaking German. I completely lost my Deutsch within a couple of years, and have never got it back. But you're solid. My mother has plenty of German friends who have been in the US for fifty or sixty years and don't do nearly as well as you.

Hey Matt, I have been following you and your printer for a few weeks now and I am really impressed by the design and the functionality! So much so that I am considering making one myself and was wondering if you would recommend making the printed parts out of ABS or if you have any experience with it as I would like to print with higher temperatures and maybe enclose the whole printer. Really looking forward to more updates - Keep up the good work! Kind regards~

If you plan to enclose it, i would consider printing it in ASA for the best performance and in ABS for a good price point. I don't have experience printing THE 100 in abs but this might be something i will try after v1.1 is released

I’m currently printing all the hotend components, the center heat bed mount, and electronics mount in ABS. The rest will be in PLA.

Matt, I've spent a lot of time researching this, but haven't found the answer. On the X and Y motors, I assume the left one (X?) is intended to driver the lower belt and the right motor (Y?) is meant to driver the upper belt. But the only time I see the pulleys, they are mounted with the toothed side on the bottom for both, which doesn't make sense to me. Shouldn't the right motor have the pulley mounted upside down so the teeth are at the top? Otherwise, what would drive the top belt? I've been through so many challenges with this printer and overcome all of them so far except this one.

I have been trying to build this printer for a while now and i keep running into issues. Using the files you provided, i do not get the same results. One such problem i've run into nearing the end is that there is no way my print bed can reach the top because it collides with the print head. Have you actually gotten a working machine with the files you provided?
@MattThePrintingNerd

On v1.0 there should be 0.5mm clearance between the toolhead and the printbed assumed that the printbed is straight. You're not the first one that had this issue. In v1.1 i've modified the toolhead and added 2.5mm clearance to have more headroom for homing

how stiff is the tool head supposed to be after installing the belts? I have to use quite a bit more force to push the tool head than I expected.

7:21 - the hotend ptfe clamp won't allow the bowden tube to pass. Maybe the one I bought is defective? I had to remove the collet and sand it a little smaller to get it to go in. I am not a fan of this style of retainer - maybe a different hotend would be better? Do you have any suggestions?

Is it possible to re-use a bunch of components from an Ender 3? Lead screw perhaps? Power supply? And for example the stepper motors. Your website does not specify what size is used but I would imagine that a standard nema 42-40 motors would be enough for the dual-z axis. While high torque motors must be bought separately for X and Y?
