The 100% rule simply means that you are 100% committed to whatever you are doing.
The decision was made. There will be 0 alcohol to make it passed my lips. My buddy neil dissolves his LSD in alcohol because it makes it easier to microdose, and I won’t even take LSD through this means because I refuse to take even 2 drops of alcohol into my body.
This rule is so simple. But it really makes the difference between seeing results, and failing once again.
Here’s the thing as well… it’s actually easier to go 100% all or nothing at something, then it is to half ass something or commit halfway.
No exceptions rule
Once you make a no exceptions rule, it’s a done deal. Non-negotiable, Case closed. There is no more decision to be made.
When I was trying to control my drinking it was like “okay, can I drink today, I’m at a party? What about on a date? What about at a family gathering?” When did it make sense to drink? It was Soooo much easier to say “never”, or “in 30 days” then it was to try to balance it.
100% commitment to monogamy, you don’t have to think about it again.
100% commitment to sobriety, you don’t need to stress yourself.
This frees up tons of energy that would internally be used up debating the topic over and over.
All the energy you would spend, is now available to make important decisions.
If you commit to 100% exercise for 30 minutes per day, no matter what, then that’s what you’ll do. If you don’t have time, you’ll make time. It doesn’t matter if you’re tired or how late it is. If you commit to 30 minutes, you’re doing your 30 minutes.
So take this rule, and adapt it to whatever your goals are. Go for a fixed period, where you will 100% commit to something.
This rule will change your life. I first heard about the name of this rule through a book called the Success Principles, by Jack Canfield. But I’ve been using this for a number of years on my own in various things. I would still recommend the book though.
Figure out what it is for you, and what it is for this new decade we are embarking on that you are going to fully commit to.
For me, the main thing I’ve been inconsistent with is my youtube. Why? That’s not important. But I am committing to spending 30 minutes per day, creating on KZitem. That’s it, 30 minutes, and we’ll see what the end result is of this.
