So this episode demonstrates perfectly a point I made a while back. It's INSANE how the Grounders see what we perceive as technology. A corporate logo is a sacred symbol to them, and generally science is regarded as something religious, because they don't have an understanding of it like Skaikru does, for example. Honestly Arcadia under Pike is a freaking MENACE. I wish Lexa would've died in battle, this seemed like a really dumb way for a commander to die, but I LOVE what they did with the chip/Commander and how they made it into a Grounder legend. Freaking genius writing of the lore of the show!

I don't know. Lexa ended wars between Clans, united them into Coalition, Commanders befoe her tried and failed and died in the process.., dying in combat i.e. war (like most of other Commanders) would be a failure to her. This way is "stupidly poetic": she found solution around the war again, and then she died by mistake..

Alie said that Becca was working on a version 2 of her code and Becca mentioned creating the AI to coexist with a human mind or something. So it kinda was Lexa but she’s influenced/enhanced by an AI to give her wisdom and knowledge that regular humans don’t have. But I won’t say anymore about it as I don’t wanna spoil.

This episode is the saddest, emotionally I was destroyed 😭😭💔 Such a happy moment of the Clexa couple that was so brutally ruined, remember that I cried so much Lexa was my favorite character and they ruined it like that, they killed her in the worst way. It was also a watershed episode because since then the number of dead LGBTQ characters without happy endings were many, they made a movement and with it the famous CLEXACON emerged, which is a project that defends LGBTQ characters, Lexa's legacy is very beautiful I invite you to investigate, since then producers, writers and actors have the sensitivity to direct and write characters in movies and series thus protecting these characters, sad that we had to lose Lexa but her Legacy was remembered forever. I'll just always miss Lexa so much ❤, she didn't deserve that horrible ending. She was an incredible and much loved commander, she deserved so much more. Reshop Heda 😭❤

CONTEXT ABOUT LEXA: When this episode aired back in 2016 it was one of the few shows on television to have a powerful lesbian character. Lexa brought in a HUGE audience from the LGBTQ community to the 100. Her death is a known example of the “Bury your gays” trope. To simplify; LGBTQ characters in TV (around 2016 when 27 LGBTQ characters were killed on screen) were being killed off left and right and it was clear, when they’re not killed for being villains, queer characters are often depicted as martyrs, with their lives naturally ending in tragedy. Lexa’s death seemed to be the tip of the iceberge for LGBTQ fans, as most thought that Lexa being as strong as a character as she is, she would be safe from the ongoing deaths of LGBTQ tv characters. It sparked outrage from LGBTQ fans everywhere, in doing so the creator of the 100 wrote an open letter to fans explaining Lexa’s exit. (Mostly due to the actress leaving for Fear the Walking dead) Eventually the community turned her death into something positive. 17 days after this episode aired OVER 46,000 dollars was raised in the actresses name for LGBTQ youth in need AND a convention was created called CLEXACON to celebrate queer characters in tv/movies that is still active today. Reshop Heda, May we meet again. I urge anyone who hasn’t yet to check out this video shown at CLEXACON in relation to Lexa’s impact. Lexa's character in ways was a blueprint for future media in how not to handle the death of an LGBTQ character. kzitem.info/news/bejne/sqKflmeIeqqAaJw

@@Qtlika it's not really about her wanting to leave. It's about how they killed off her character. In an article from variety written when this episode aired wrote, " So Lexa’s death following right on the heels of her sleeping with Clarke - that was another case of the show compressing a timeline to an unfortunate degree. That does stray dangerously close to the pop-culture trope of lesbians on TV frequently dying, especially if they’ve had some kind of personal epiphany or moment of happiness. For some viewers, Lexa’s death at that moment did indeed cross the line and became another instance of that trope playing itself out, and for many, it hurt all the more because the show had held itself out as a beacon of positive LGBTQ representation". The whole article is great but this is what I was specifically referencing in my first comment.

Even if i didn't like Lexa, her death is still extremely sad and it makes it even more heartbreaking because Clarke is trying everything in her save her even though it's inevitable from the gunshot wound in her stomach and how fast she was losing blood. it is really sweet of her though as she's dying she's telling titus to promise her that he'll swear not to do any harm to Clarke. it gets me everytime when Clarke says the Travellers blessing though I tear up anytime someone says the travellers blessing well except the one time anyway. Yeah it really does suck the way Lexa went out, being hit by a stray bullet when she wasn't even the target. i know they had to kill her off because of scheduling and she had to be back on fear the walking dead but I agree that they could have done it a better way and a way better death than just the stray bullet.

😭😭💔💔 RIP LEXA *THE COMMANDER* , ALPHA LEADER AF! LOVE OF CLARKE'S LIFE AND BEST CHARACTER IN THIS SERIES! I, like many, was dreading this episode😔, it's both beautiful and heartbreaking. To people always downplaying Lexa's death, you never understood the importance of her character beyond your small shipper brains. She was INCREDIBLY significant for LGBT representation at this point in tv history and the movement her death inspired is a testament to that. Multiple writers in Hwood actually signed the 'Lexa Pledge' to not kill off LGBT characters frivolously (their lives and death should have meaning), or right after they had they have a significant, usually the only, moment of happiness/love, in their characters story. Lexa will always be a very, very important character for that reason and just an interesting one in general. If haters, ignorant people, were mature enough to recognise that, they'd understand why some of us have and always will go so hard for this character. It's beyond just stupid shipping. No one ever really said Lexa, never had to die, it's a TV show ofc characters die but it's the trash way they did it, that will always suck and need to be mentioned. Pathetic writing, once more, from this series but we watch still, bc we love the actors and characters. I'd say almost all fans can admit that. And p.s. People "excited" for this episode just bc Lexa dies, are sick, disrespectful af and the reason I really dislike and will always crap on the crackshippers.

To anyone (who knows nothing about television production) saying that Lexa 'had' to die in this ep bc ADC was going to another show, you are wrong, that's not how it works and you know that reasoning gets debunked, literally, a few episodes later. Also while I do feel like the Lexa outrage was a bit too intense, as someone who feels indifferent about Lexa, I do hate how they had her and Clarke consummate their relationship only to literally kill Lexa in the next scene. Like it’s just kind of cruel? And definitely plays into the Bury tour gays trope. That being said I don’t think there was a way for Alycia Debnam to leave the show without that character dying because it’s not like Lexa could just leave?? Like where would she go and why when she’s the Commander. I’m just not a fan in the way they killed. Lexa is a weird character to me cause she’s technically not even in a full season of the show yet people act like she IS the show. I like Lexa but I feel like we never even got the chance to fully know her she’s only on here a short time

It took me a couple years to really appreciate this origin story. It is really interesting and exceptional for its time. People forget A.I, drone technology, consciousness uploading etc. wasn't really in mainstream tv like that (outside of tech world) in 2015/16 as much as it is now. This show and books was ahead of it's time. The philosophical/political theorising included. One of the reasons I appreciate this series, besides having my 2nd fave tv character ever, Lexa, in it (that wasn't in the books). Also, by the way, 14:48 I don't think that's for you, a none queer female, to say. I know you think you're just joking but you might just say that in front of the wrong person. I've noticed that a lot of (usually none lgbt) people feel too comfortable just saying things like that. It's not really appropriate, bordering on offensive. Jsyk.

I found the whole thing just so weird and so quick? Why did they kill her so quickly? They def could have used her longer... at least through the end of the season. Its also sucky that just when they get together she dies? And one thing I wont miss is all the screen time with Clarke in polis because it got boring after a while. I would say that about any character being stuck somewhere too long. I feel that way about Murphy being stuck with Emori for all these episodes. So I am glad to see him back. I hated that everyone like Octavia , Bellamy, etc. Blame Clarke for not being there, it was not her responsibility, I wish in this season she just said 'fuck u' to the skaikru and left them for good,we can see she felt Polis more home than Arkadia and she want to stay But again they made her in the position where she needs to choose between her happiness and her people, Lexa was the only person who never blame her for what she did and told her it's what she needed to do,she is the only one who asked her what she want in her life, and I don't blame her for wanting to stay to the people who understand her,After Lexa I've never seen Clarke happy like when she's with Lexa untill Madi(SPOILER!).. They expect her to be there and made the hard decision but no ones volunteer for her place and then they blame her if something goes wrong

i really did not like the direction this show took after they introduced ALLIE and AI's and stuff...i liked the vibe it had the first two seasons with the grounders much more than whatever sci-fi nonsense jason wanted to write about going forward

disagree. Because then it would just be walking dead minus zombies. (So human conflicts all the time). But then again I just love scifi stuff and worldbuilding, so I'm biased ^^

Literally same. It only gets worse from here 😔 although I do like s4 and s6 much better than 5 and 7.
