Do you know scientists? I mean... besides the medallions like Newton, Einstein, Darwin and Curie.
This video features 120 of the world's greatest natural scientists and mathematicians; including the greatest Brazilian scientists. These men and women arrived before, where no one had arrived before.
This list is loosely based on the list created by the Encyclopedia Britannica for the 100 most influential scientists in the world. To compose the video list we made some changes to the original. One example was the exclusion of names such as Ptolemy, Paracelsus and Francis Galton, who by modern standards would easily be classified as pseudo-scientists. On the other hand, we added names like Ludwig Boltzmann, Bertrand Russell and Katherine Johnson who did a lot for science and could never be left off the list. And of course, we value our scientists, introducing the most relevant Brazilian scientists, in the most diverse areas.
Names are called in roughly chronological order and are positioned in the matrix alphabetically by first name. The written list is below.
The production of this video included the collaboration of Prof. Dr. Thaciana Malaspina (lattes.cnpq.br/2600060786895700). Davi Fileti also contributed to the voiceover.
