1955 was the debut year of this long-lived Ford classic. Available with Y-block V-8 272 c.i. and two barrel carburetor, this was the top-of-the-line model that was available only in a coupe and featured the distinctive stainless steel roof band with attendant chrome trim and also distinctive gold flashed crowned emblems on the hood and trunk and on the door panels above the check-mark chrome accents on each door. The glass roof panel option was reminiscent of the 1954 Mercury Sun Valley and cost around $300 in 1955 dollars. ($3,500 in 2024 dollars.)
I owned one just like this in 1968. It was my first car.
