I feel like you guys dropped the ball by not talking about the engine. The k24a2 is unique because it was one of the only Honda engines at the time that had i-VTEC on both intake and output valves. Virtually every other Honda had it only on the intake. Because the TSX could breathe more, it was more sought-after for track use. The suspension on the car is fantastic and they even added front and rear sway bars. The gear-shifting is one of the best of that era. Overall, the design was dead-simple and clean, a look that Japan will probably never make again. The rear tail lights are fantastic and the side skirts added for 06 were a great addition.

Acuras from the 00s are great cars. RSX, TSX, TL (throw in the NSX if you want) all have timeless styling, functional but good-looking cockpits with good driving positions, good shifters, entertaining sounding engines with naturally aspirated response and a progressive power band, and Honda/Acura at their best have great road feel and breathe over the road very well, and these were some of their best cars. Was waiting for a TSX review. Here in Europe I have this car, but it's an '06 2.2 I-CTDI diesel. Yes. A Honda diesel. Honda's first ever diesel, in fact (N22A engine code if anyone is interested). Its modfied, so has 212HP and 440Nm of torque. Stock it's at 140HP and like 340Nm And, it's a six-speed manual. It's also a wagon. But, basically looks like this. While 212 and 440 might not sound like a lot, the thing really shifts. And, on our smaller roads, it really does feel like it's moving. In sixth gear on the highway, it really does pull and overtaking is the easiest. With the modifications and all, it puts a lot of surprise into drivers of hot hatches and larger engined cars. The diesel engine really helps because that torque means it really doesn't struggle with the mass, and it's reliable as hell. It has 190k miles and runs like a clock, as mentioned in the video. And I love the fact the interior isn't THAT dated. And as the owner of this TSX mentioned, totally different interior.

If I recall correctly, back when the Integra was replaced by the RSX, Real Time Racing didn't switch from the Integra to the RSX for the Sportscar Challenge series or whatever it was called. The suspension geometry was that much poorer with the RSX that they chose to continue campaigning the Integra for a season or two, but when the TSX came out they changed to the TSX since it had proper suspension that would work well for the racing series.

I got the 2015 Civic Si. I was cross shopping a TSX, both cars have the K24, but the Si was almost 500lb less. For a sporty daily, those 500lb dramatically improve the handling. AT only 205hp, that added handling capability was a game changer for me. The Si also had a mechanical LSD from the factory

Cars, Coffee and Cannabis- the TSX has a different k24, it’s more like the k20z from the 8th gen Si, no built in exhaust manifold, vtec on both intake and exhaust side....
@carscoffeeandcannabis-634
4 жыл бұрын
@@sleeper.simulant7327 I know it is the stronger engine if you want to build it, but as it comes stock, the power output, power band and overall performance are the same. If I wanted to build the engine, it would definitely be the better one to do so on. But since this car is my daily, stock for stock, it is the better performing car IMO. With that said, the K24A the Si has can easily take a downpipe, exxhaust and tune for example, so unless you are going for nuts power, it's still a fine platform.
@sleeper.simulant7327
4 жыл бұрын
Cars, Coffee and Cannabis- a 9th gen with a downpipe, exhaust, RBC intake manifold swap, and a tune will rev to 7600 and make over 220 whp, which is fairly impressive. If your just going bolt ons a 9th gen is great. Comfortable but handles decent, quiet interior, excellent fun daily. The 9th gens also like boost quite a bit. The built in exhaust manifold expels heat efficiently, and a small connector pipe with a turbo bolted onto it spools turbos very quickly. The TSX k24 with k20z head with headwork (port and polish, calves and cams) can start reaching upper 200’s n/a stock bottom end which is why it’s such a popular platform

So yeah, I think him saying 600lbs is a pretty optimistic case for the TSX. Definitely no 350lb difference like you're suggesting, according to the published curb weights, that's not even possible without weight reduction. He's right, 200hp is low in both of them. 250 is a bit more adequate, but it's still not fast. Put those motors in a 5th or 6th gen civic though and they become pretty quick.
