@Riki 9653 "Everyone seems to want to ride around in a little tank/SUV with AWD. I just don't understand the world anymore..." Um, because they're awesome to a great many people and many actually use the UTILITY part of those acronyms? The small SUV/CUV market is the hottest selling segment in the US by far. The market has spoken and there are reasons for that. They're just as easy to drive and park as any similarly sized (or even smaller) sedan, yet they have more interior room. You sit higher for better visibility. They're safer in a collision. AWD is a very desired feature in a lot of the US, as well. I live in northern Utah and it's much appreciated and it gets used a lot every winter (ski season) and even during non-winter seasons. They still get pretty good gas mileage and some of them look pretty darned good, too, like the new version of the Toyota RAV4. Disclaimer: I have a 2020 RAV4 XLE, so I'm a bit biased. But, I love it and not even "poor gas mileage" claims are all that relevant anymore. I easily get 35+ mpg on the interstate and high 20s around town. I average over 30mph with more town driving than not virtually every single tank. And, that's with a gas only port/GDI engine. No turbo or hybrid anything. Toyota's current version of their 2.5L Dynamic Force engine is incredible and 200+ hp, again with no turbo/hybrid, is no slouch, either.

For all of the people complaining about this car being boring, I ask you this: do you really think it’s that bad for a car company to just make a normal, practical car? Is it really that bad? Can I not be satisfied with a car that has good gas mileage, good reliability and not too much going on with the design? Not every car in the world is an extravagant sports car. That isn’t the point of the new Civic. And furthermore, sports cars are often sales failures since that’s not what the market wants. This, for the most part, is a car that the market wants, and the market is what all car companies cater to, whether the obscure group of enthusiasts likes it or not.

This is my first car with LKAS and ACC and it's amazing. It FEELS new and 'space-age', the interior is so sleek and I really enjoy it. The single piece of trim going across the whole dashboard really harkens back to classic Hondas but feels like a fresh take on it. People compliment the interior whenever they get in my car. I was hesitant to take on a payment for a car bc I've only ever purchased used cars but I'm more than happy with my purchase. The trim up which is pretty much just a sunroof and alloy wheels was 18000ish new The new ones Start at 22000, the same trim as mine but without the six-speed is 24000. Yes, they redesigned the exterior (Imo looks better) and interior (imo looks good, but so does the previous) but all the features and standard things that came with it are all the exact same. Depends on the plastic cover... I had an '08 Fiat Bravo, one of the first cars (at least in Europe) to go with the new trend of smaller, turbocharged 4-cylinder engines. Except that being Italian, the engineers decided to incorporate part of the turbo inlet piping into the plastic cover. So every time I wanted to change spark plugs or whatever, I had to get these two PITA Oetiker clamps off - inevitably one would ping off and fall down to the bottom of the engine bay - and then wrestle off two of the least-flexible flexible hoses I've ever encountered from either end.
@TheAnnoyingBoss
3 жыл бұрын
@@allanransom8518 I agree but also the less shit I have to move out of the way to change a spark plug, the better. when they use plastic it gives you the feeling that they're covering up a high tech mess they couldn't organize. When they don't rely on plastic, it allows the engine bay to be better on display and I actually enjoy when they organize everything nice and neat. Makes me feel like if I ever have to work on it under the hood, that everything is nice and in order for me to easily navigate my way around. When you pop some of these either manufacturers hoods and remove the plastic and it looks like a car with way too many poorly added on aftermarket electronics mixed together in a rats nest of wires and tubes, it really doesn't instill confidence when you have to to looking for problems. Honda and Toyota are very good at making their engine bays as organized as you can get em at least. Without all the extra covers in the way, if you have to get under the hood it makes it a more enjoyable expirience. Also I like seeing Honda relying on not the most high tech stuff, but the reliable stuff. Like a prop rod instead of shocks and struts. My 20 year old Toyota coupe still has another 20 years of life left in it, but the shocks went bad and it's easier to use a large campfire metal snore stick to hold the door open than to replace them. The prop rod will keep it classy for longer. It's also 20 years old and has a power seat thats malfunctioned and is a pain to fix when it's 20 years old. If you want your car to last long and keep functioning for decades, prop rod with manual seats are the only way

Not to mention that fabric seats just wear much better over time. I’ve seen so many used cars with horribly creased leather seats that typically sport an unsightly high gloss shine that is so different (and unappealing) compared to their initial matte aesthetic when new.

This isn't a compact car. It's a mid-size by the EPA classification, but it's on the small end of mid-size so Honda markets it as a "compact" so that it doesn't scare people away. What's really perverse is that "subcompact" and "compact" mean two different things for cars and SUV/CUV's. The Subaru Impreza is a compact car, but it's a subcompact CUV because of the way the classification workds. Which is utterly insane because both are essentially the same car. So "subcompacts" didn't get bigger, they changed the definition for the type of car that most people drive. Which is lunacy, because you have people driving massive honking RAV-4's thinking that they are "compacts" when by any previous definition it's a big gigantic car.

The new Civic is basically the Accord exterior design with different proportions and some detail changes. Handsome enough but a far better look than the previous generation which makes me cringe a little each time I see one. They should have made the new one a Sportback which would offer more practicality and eliminate the need for a sedan or a hatchback. That could have made room on the assembly line for an estate version with 4WD to lure some CUV buyers away and give consumers another choice. Yeah, I know, I'm dreaming. Also, the Doug Score was very low for the quality of vehicle the Civic is if you take into account resale value, reliability and the low cost of repairs and maintenance. You didn't talk too much about the CVT which might mean you didn't notice it? If so, that's probably a good thing since the last time I owned a CVT car was the last time I owned a CVT car. Anyway, this is another great Honda but I would still be more inclined to buy the Mazda 3 sedan. It is a great looking little car and you can get it with 4WD.
