Mid-Sized trucks have never been much better on gas for some odd reason, considering they’re lighter and have smaller displacement engines. I had a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Crew Cab with a 6” lift and larger tires, it got roughly 14mpg. A couple years later, I bought a 2017 Toyota Tacoma with a 2” lift to go alongside the Silverado to use when pulling lighter loads - and it only got 16mpg! When comparing a 3/4 ton full-size truck with a 6.0L V8 to a mid-sized truck with a 3.5L V6, it should have done much better than 2mpg extra, at least in my opinion. In todays’ world, I see the prices for these mid-sized pickups with 4-cylinder engines getting the same economy as V6s, on top of that, they cost as much as my fully loaded, full-size, heavy duty truck did back in 2015! It’s absolutely insane - I wouldn’t be surprised if the mid-sized truck market ends up dissolving, it’s almost smarter to just get a larger truck with a larger engine, more interior and bed room, and more capability for a few thousand more! There used to be a clear price difference between the mid-size and full-size pickup class, but now, that margin is getting smaller and smaller.

@@dlg5485 they definitely are, but this is where we're at. the days of finding a small pickup truck for $8900, are sadly behind us. well that's not exactly true, you can find used one's, but nothing up to date. i certainly wouldn't pay that much for something that old now, but we're talking about new car prices. yeah a 90's small pickup you could get for $12k, full size trucks did cost more than 15k in 1995, but you could get a base model close to that price. some people say if you do the math, car prices today aren't too far from late 90's early 2000's era, but i disagree with that one. the most you could pay would be $30k, and that would be for a King Ranch F150. I got this truck about 3 months ago. So far, very happy with it. Yes, it's pricey... but so is every other midsize in the class. It's not like the new Toyota coming out in spring is going to be really cheaper. The only negative is the gas mileage. You also lose a little bit of tow due to the off road suspension. The styling is exceptional. They got the "look" right, inside and out. I wish ALL midsize trucks worked on storage more. I would say it's about the same there. The engine is PLENTY strong in this size truck. If I could have waited, I would have considered the Toyo Hybrid coming out... but that price is even higher which offsets the mileage gains... So I might be right back here. Would I buy it again? yes

For the money you’re spending and being a gmc you can definitely see where they went cheap and cut cost. The AT4 and X should be optioned with those grab handles I simply don’t understand why you don’t even option that so dumb.

Yikes! 16 MPG - which means that people that drive normal will get 12 MPG! That means Lots of Gas Station stops to fill that small gas tank! WTF are they thinking? They have Hybrid technology to design a powertrain that gets 30 MPG and Still have over 300 HP. So WTF is the deal with this BS, outdated powertrain?

I looked up the gas tank size. 21.4 gallons. 407 mile range. Seems acceptable.

Real world has actually shown 2-3 mpg better than published. Hybrid technology is a crock. Nobody wants to talk about the amount of mining ( by diesel powered equipment) required to obtain the precious metals for the batteries. Not to mention the children that mine the cobalt by hand.
