To be honest I think there are at least a dozen things that are more important than screen size. For instance, in a family car, cargo space, passenger space, seat comfort, gas mileage, price, running costs, safety ratings, safety features, driving experience, noise levels, easy of third row access, reliability etc all would be a more important part of a choice for me than screen size. It would have to be quite the tie for that to be an important factor. I have cars with screen sizes ranging from 4 to 7 to 12.3 inches and when driving rarely do I care. Definitely prefer the larger size but it really isn't that important to me compared to all those other things.

The Honda Pilot screen is the perfect size for google maps navigation and apple car play ( I use my screen for navigation and Apple car play primarily) !! My google maps and navigation on my 12 in screen was way too wide and I had to make it smaller and even then most my apps had to bee adjusted down to smaller size because on a 12 wide display is not really practical... I had to add 2 other bs data apps on the 12 inch display just to cover the space on the 12 inch screen that was not needed or important... Honda Pilot wins in all categories. Driving dynamics, quality, reliability, features, natural v6 (no bs turbos with a weak inline 4 cylinder Toyota), price, honest dealers vs Toyota trying rip their customers off Honda wins!! @fredmoss4540
Жыл бұрын
The Pilot TrailSport is a trim level. My suspicion is Honda did not develop this for off-road capability for Pilot. It was developed for next 3rd Gen Ridgeline redesign. Also Passport redesign. If every Ridgeline had skid plates and slight lift with tuned off-road suspension revamped AWD System. This will give it the much needed off-road cred. This has been one of Ridgeline biggest complaints.Looks are subjective. They did good in refresh of 2nd Gen. Also got rid of FWD trim. All 1st Gen Ridgeline had 4WD. The towing is other complaint max is 5,000lbs with AWD on 2nd Gen and 1st Gen. The other biggest complaint is lack of ground clearance compared to its competitors. It has them beat On-Road driving. So the people that venture Off-road with Ridgeline or Passport is more than a Pilot. Dirt Bikes, kayaks in bed of Ridgeline. So not develop for Pilot specifically. It just happened to get redesign first. Honda engineer said TrailSport had to be good On-Road also good Off-road.
@fredmoss4540
Жыл бұрын
I use to think exactly like you in regards to this. But over the years of having Ridgeline in family. My mind has completely changed. Honda did not have any vehicles that really have Off-road capability from factory. That doesn't mean hard- core rock crawling. Say you get to trail with ditches and ruts. People do go camping so why buy a Jeep vehicle or Toyota,Nissan. I've watched hundreds of Ridgeline videos. The market is out there. You hear the people complaining about. Consumer Reports Ranks Ridgeline High always. But the reason they give for some buyers to skip is lack of off-road potential. So Pilot, Ridgeline,Passport share so many things. I keep pushing Ridgeline,Passport but if somebody wants a larger passenger capable variant. You have Pilot.

@Dan Miller Driving Dynamics are very important to me. How the vehicle drives handles, brakes. How it rides on a long highway trip goes over bumps in the road. That's more important to me than size of infotainment screen. Your not going to get all the goodies in Pilot. People forget that it has a cousin 3 Row SUV. The Acura MDX base they offer packages. Most vehicles don't offer adjustable pedals. Ford had that for years in some models. But when the Explorer is rated by consumer Reports and others. It gets a lower overall score. The Explorer Overall rating was 47 by Consumer Reports. The last Generation Pilot not this 2023 redesign got Overall 76 rating. So Kia looks like it's wowing people with it's interior goodies. @@naveenthemachine We can agree to disagree on this one. I used to prefer Honda over Toyota. But I have to call a spade a spade on this one. We're in a market right now, where the Millenials and Gen Z drivers are dominating. That age demographics will not only looking for a dependable vehicle, but the best technology for the money. And that's where Honda is lacking at. They catered more to loyal seasonal drivers (Baby Boomers and Gen X), than attracting younger buyers. So again, why Honda gave the biggest infotainment screen to a vehicle who sales are declining due to crossover and SUVs, and not the their big flagship vehicle, the Pilot? Something got to give and Honda ain't giving it! Now, I only used Toyota as an example, because their arch rivals. But then you have the Telluride, Palisade, CX-9, Pathfinder, Atlas, etc, all pretty much stepped to the plate in technology and performance, making Honda looking kinda lazy.

The exactly only thing I don't like in this version is the trapezoidal last window, which I also don't like on Durango, it's small, seems like they got it from another car and fit it after the car was ready, although apart from that, the car is really nice. I really like the front and the name on the back over the black stripe. In black color, the window doesn't bother me that much.

Once again if you are a Honda fan you should be thanking Hyundai/Kia for forcing Honda and all the other manufacturers into constantly upgrading tech and styling. Honda and the rest LOVED to keep there styling for at least 7 years. Loved to only add advanced tech and luxury materials to there too trim. Sadly for them Hyundai/Kia changed all that 7 or 8 years ago. They added a sweep of safety features to there entry trims and allowed you to affordably add in a tech package to give you cabin a more fancy look in the lower trims. If you asked all car manufacturers which company they hate most, I can promise you they would all say Hyundai. Hyundai forced them all to copy and move away from the traditional way they preferred to rip us off with. So don’t go hey look at the cool stuff my new Honda has, what you mean to say is look at what Honda has been doing refreshing there design far quicker and how beautiful they are making the cabins all thanks to Hyundai!

The new Pilot is decent but nowhere near as nice as the Palisade/Telluride, that’s for sure. They’re still the kings of the 3 row mainstream SUV segment. For example, the Palisade is cheaper than the Pilot, and some notable benefits the Palisade has over the Pilot are: - Far more luxurious exterior and interior, with soft touch and stitched leather everywhere, and a suede headliner. - Digital rearview mirror - More advanced driver’s assistance tech, such as automatic lane changing, - Much larger and more advanced displays (dual 12” screens). Pilot only has a 9” screen. - More advanced 360 camera with a drone-like mode - Turn signal blind spot cameras that display in the gauge cluster when using either turn signal - Cooled second row seats - Heated third row seats - Massaging driver’s seat - Power reclining/folding third row - LED rear turn signals (pilot only has LED in the front) - Remote parking via the key fob - More powerful motor - 10 year warranty Honda still has a long way to go to beat the Korean SUVs. Because compared to the Pali/Telli, the Pilot is boring and overpriced for what you get. And before ppl come for me and start blabbering on about “reliability” - Do your research. the Pali/Telli have been incredibly solid since launch. That V6 is very dependable.
