If the ZR-1 and the Zora are yet to come, and one of them is supposed to be hybrid front drive, that is probably the Zora, that front opening in the hood is to cool them electric motors. I have seen people who are supposed to be in the know declaring 6.2 while others are just as certain its the 5.5. I think it is both. The ZR-1 is going to get a supercharged or turbo charged 5.5L RWD. The ZR-1 has always added a good bit of HP, and if GM isn't going to add power, why make it at all? Just replace the ZO-6 or ZO-7 package with the ZR-1 package. Most speculators feel the ZR-1 is going to be a track focused car. The Zora is going to have an inducted 6.2 because they have already developed a hybrid system for that engine set up, why spend a lot more money to design a new system for the 5.5L?

Everyone missed the obvious folks. The ZR1 looks to go above the Z06 for track readiness, and that is huge news. Car and Driver had it pegged for a GT car, and that would have been nice as well but a track monster is what everyone wants.

The current Z06 has dealer markup up to 60K so this new ZR1 pretty sure it’ll be around 250K which includes stealership markup.

Awesome Video Mike! This has me so hyped we are at the point GM is fielding these cars with no heavy camo! I got my name on a few different spots for a ZR1 but who knows how that will pan out. I think the $150k starting point is pretty close but like you said, with the increase in GM, and give it a couple more years of price increases when the ZR1 goes officially into production, I have it that it will be around $157kish.

the front or hood as you said isn't finished product but i would say that deliberate design of the lip being up and the angle, is going to give some damn good down force from that top of the hood while taking in air for wherever they are channeling it. Also, lets be real. The zr1 is going to be bigger and more bada$$ than the z06 and even when z06 prices come down a bit, they will still be overpriced. The zr1 is going to be out of reach for the majority of corvette owners that have been buying corvettes over the last 30+ years. At least the c6 zr1 when it was selling for roughly $130 ish with an msrp of $105k. Not including spec of the car. So looking at the ballpark estimates of the zr1 , lets be honest, msrp around $150k+ (not including probably a ridiculous dealer mark up) car is going to be upwards of $250k. So people taking out credit line on their house to buy a vette? Just sayin. The whole "vette experience" in this generation has been massively tainted. From the dealers actions and GM's inactions, corvette has soured because of what they have and havent done. IM TIRED of hearing, " what worth what someone will pay for it".

So Zo6 was 40k delta and everyone thought 25k and GM surprised us. ZR1 is just twin turbo on the 5.5 flat plane crank engine. So I am guessing min 40k more. However given the crazy money dealers are charging GM will try to get some money for themselves so would not be surprised 50-60k more from Z06 starting price. Now let’s see what will come standard the 9k ceramic rotors standard. The large possibly active wing, 2 turbos few more air scoops for 50k or 60k. Atleast in the zo6 you are getting a bespoke flat plane crank engine that revs to 8500. So a few turbos few air cutouts and a large wing throw in the ceramic rotors for maybe 2.5 0-60 same as Eray okay since it has to be better 2.3 0-60 maybe. At this price point it is best to buy a European car where you get an overall ownership and service experience

Pretty sharp, Mike. The thumbnail with real paint looks really aggressive. My concern is not so much the price as it is (what I think will be) very limited production. I am #2 at my dealer for the ZR1 and doubt that I will get a shot at one. That said, it would not surprise me to see starting prices of 170, and I would guess that markups will continue to be insane as these more advanced versions become more rare. Hope all is well, my friend! 💪🇺🇸

I would take the Zr1 in any configuration that is offered, it’s going to be a monster IMO…. I’m open to any power configuration even if they put 1000 Squirrels on circular wheels chasing after peanuts! I’m hoping for Records to be broken and that the Zr1 gets the respect it richly deserves. Ultimately, I hope a Zora Duntov Model appears in the future. That Man still deserves a Tribute in His Honor. (Mid Engine without electrification? YES?) GM “YOU CAN DO IT”!!!

Z06, ZR1, Zora) will be easy to sell if you so desire…after 6 months. I am enjoying my 60th Anniversary Edition C6Z and rowing my own gears again. Forgot how much I enjoyed that. 🥳

The C8 wing you referring to is about the same size as the wing on my C7 ZR1 which was part of the ZTK track package. Btw, it generates 950 lbs of downforce. Note: The following is from a GM News Article: How the 2019 Corvette ZR1 Makes 950 Pounds of Downforce. ZR1’s revised front and rear aerodynamics that turn it into a real track basher. It starts at the nose, where the ZR1 debuts a Corvette-first underwing which Chevy says trickled down from race car world. Air is funneled through a space between the front splitter and closeout panel which generate’s front downforce and helps pinch the air, creating a mild venturi effect which accelerates airflow under the nose (dark blue) and squishes the front tires into the road. You can see how the strakes (turquoise) help guide air through the underwing. Airflow under the car becomes more turbulent aft of the nose as it swirls around the bottom of the engine and the rear transaxle. A rear diffuser wasn’t possible due to the placement of the Corvette’s stock mufflers. The key to the ZR1’s two-hundred-and-something top speed is the standard low rear wing. According to Chevy, the smaller pedestal wing creates 20 percent less drag than the optional adjustable high wing, but still generates more downforce than Z06’s wicker bill spoiler. Serious track shoppers can opt for the available ZTK Performance Pack, which tacks huge endplates onto the front splitter and swaps the low wing for a high mounted version offering five degrees of adjustability. The end plates are creating additional downforce by extending the high-pressure zone (red) further across the front splitter, which also translates to increased pressure (green) climbing up the front fenders. Whereas the standard setup only shows high-pressure downforce creation at the leading edge of the rear spoiler, the high wing shows high to mid-pressure (orange and yellow) downforce creation over a majority of its surface. Lastly, there’s the effect of airflow on the car’s cooling. The ZR1 uses the power steering, differential, and transmission cooling module from the Z06, plus five additional heat exchangers- four of which sit hidden behind the car’s gaping air intakes. The side intakes channel air through the intercoolers and brake ducts before spitting it out fore of the front wheels, helping smooth airflow downstream. Air hitting the middle radiator is funneled through the engine bay and out through the LT5’s top-mounted heat exchanger before being picked up with the rest of the air traveling over the car’s roof. You can also see how the Corvette’s rear quarter panel vents work, air is captured by the vents and forced (yellow) downwards towards the transmission and differential coolers.

After watching a couple videos......I believe (if there is a Zora) that the Zora will be a mix between certain models and some of the mysterious attributes that we can fathom. If the ZR1 is the more track based variant and the ERay is more of a all season variation, then one can possibly come to the conclusion that the Zora will be.....Something glorious beyond imagination 🥲 ................................................................but i cant afford it anyways so what do i know 🤷🏾♂️😂

Keep in mind that these are test mules and that all of the features that you're pointing out and discussing are not finalized and may or may not ever make it into production. Regarding the rear wing, if it gets any larger you may need a pilots license to fly that thing in case it goes airborne. 😂

I have a C7 ZR1 ZTK and the rear wing is not adjustable. There are, however, two bolts on each of the two pedestals and their sole purpose is to attach the wing to the pedestals. That said, given what I saw in the video, the C8 wing does appear to have adjustability, likely about a quarter of an inch or thereabouts. That may not sound like much to some, although it's more than enough. I say that since the wing on my ZR1, or the one that will be on the C8, both not only produce downforce it also results in drag. On aircraft this is referred to as 'lift induced drag'. Hence, on a car, it's 'downforce induced drag'. It's sort of a 'robbing Peter to pay Paul' thing. The same can be said for high performance tires. They have great grip although they cost more and don't last as long as ordinary tires. However, I wouldn't put anything else on my car since the tires and rear wing, together, allow the car to perform incredibly well for what is essentially a street car. Btw, the "large" wing on the C7 ZR1 makes 950 Pounds of downforce. However, the key to the ZR1’s two-hundred-plus top speed is the standard low rear wing. According to Chevy, the smaller pedestal wing creates 20 percent less drag than the optional adjustable high wing. Sounds great, right? However, it depends on what one values more: Better lateral grip or a greater top speed.

I hope this is a hybrid. I want a all-wheel-drive Corvette and although the E-Ray is cool, I'd much rather have one of the performance ones like this. If the hybrid doesn't happen for this or the Zora, I'll get the E-Ray. If the hybrid does happen, this is the one I'll put an order on. *Currently have a C7 Z06 and a 1970 C3 (just a small block 350cc though)

The wing mounts are unnecessarily wide just to support the wing strongly suggesting internal mechanical components for adjustability, likely with automation like the GT3 RS which is a direct competitor.

GM has switched to an hot V configuration when it comes to turbos! Just like they did in the ct6 v blackwing, thing is that first gen blackwing engine never stopped production in bowling green, on man one engine, and the ct6 has been out of production since 2020. Also not a hybrid! The camo is not sporting the hybrid placard.

If they are testing this car for performance, they need hybrid radiators which we do not see. The upper rear intakes plus no hybrid radiator seems to indicate this has forced induction. I think it will likely be above $150,000 plus there will likely be an option package similar to the Z07 that includes the high wing as apposed to a lower Z06 style wing. Could be that a ZR1 with all options would be pushing $250,000. I was hoping it would have more style changes in the front other than the large "hood" outlet. If this car is seen running around the track...what does it sound like? No audio recordings?

A spoilers purpose is to reduce drag which for example results from air flowing off the rear of the car and becoming turbulent. Of course less drag equates to better fuel economy. Hence: The new Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards which require an industry-wide fleet average of approximately 49 mpg for passenger cars and light trucks in model year 2026. Aren't you excited?! ;)

The next logical step is to add the motor from the eray to the z06. you get 830 bhp system power, and unadulterated sound from the LT6. The AMG BTR black set a record with 880hp and rwd, but awd could make the Corvette feel more stable.

Gonna be a sweet ride. Still enjoying my 2023 3LT Z51 HTC. It’s absolutely a great ride. I did get the magnetic ride control and front end lift. Plus the performance exhaust system and the high wing. I also added ACS 1VM splitter and 1VM rockers plus the radiator guards.

Are you going to get on a list? Are Darren and Mark excited? Will dealerships start a legitimate list of interested customers? I think I’m going to approach my Salesperson this morning when they open. The Zr1 is going to be something to live for, in my case a goal literally!!! I hope the Nurburgring had a Closed Private Track Session for just the Zr1 testing to give it an opportunity to show the Exotic Car World its potential and capabilities. Show some respect for the new King of the World! Let’s set the World on Notice! There’s a New Sheriff in Town!

I called my local dealership salesperson 10/12/2023! I am the first person to contact them regarding the Zr1. Therefore, I’m going to be the first to be contacted if they get a Zr1 allocation!!! Yippee It’s not certain that they will get an allocation, but being #1 in line is a plus!

If it’s close to 1000hp hybrid mixed with twin turbo, then I’m in. If it’s going to have under 900hp for $100k more than my e ray build, I’ll shop Lamborghini next. E ray will be my last corvette.

@@Luke-cb3ly That’s not the point. My point that I’m making is the zr1 is not worth paying 100k more for 200hp bump and a wing and hood. I’ve bought plenty of brand new corvettes in my life. This is where I’ll stop. I’m not paying $200k+ for a fucking Chevy. If I’m going to pay supercar prices then I’m going to buy a badge with it. Lamborghini is my next car. I have a e ray and a z06 on the way, i’m going to flip the z06 that car is garbage. The eray I’ll keep, I do like it. The Lamborghini Revuelto, is like the Eray but on steroids. I’m done with buying more corvettes.

@@kinggor555hk What's the point of buying a new car under warranty, and spending 30k to put a turbo kit on it? It would still be a 4000Ibs car. What's more, after 110mph the electric motor stops helping. Meanwhile a ZR1 will have its 830hp+ while weighing 300Ibs less and unlike the E-Ray it doesn't lose much of its power above 110mph. besides being a much better car on the track

@Luke-cb3ly spending $30k is still way lower than zr1 msrp + the markup. LT2 engine is more reliable, hacked, and tunable. Some ppl like to mod their cars. It's another fun part that LT6 is limited currently. AWD will be faster for 0-100. ZR1 will always playing catch up. Yes, it is the beast of the track but not on the street road and not an all season car. GTR is a heavy 4000lb car too but it's AWD is awesome. Of course, zr1's LT7 engine sound is unbeatable. A Borla or AWS exhaust may help a bit in this case.

Great video! Unfortunately, you can't polish a turd. Chevy didn't do a good job with the design of this car to begin with - too many competing lines and spaces. How bout a rear diffuser?

The used car market will sell these for $300k at the very lowest. $350k will most likely be the average. Even though the msrp will be probably $220k-$240k loaded up.

@@N0neofyourbusiness. I’m sticking with my C6Z for as long as I can. I can’t see myself spending over $250K on any car any time soon unless it’s a hybrid V8 or a hybrid V10 pushing 900+ hp at full power.

@@kyotijhan3456 I’m just bummed out that it doesn’t have the more aggressive fenders like the c8.r and more aggressive front bumper again like the c8.r or rear bumper. You’re paying EXTRA for twin turbos, wing and hood lol good twin turbo kits are $10k on average. $2k for a hood, $2k for wing. And GM is asking $100k extra 😂 their selling point is “AT LEAST IT HAS A WARRANTY” let the car sit in the shops for months with out being touched 🌚 yeah I’m good.
