I bought a brand new 266 XP in 1986 and put a V stack on it and a k&N filter on it. I still use it regularly today. Here is the kicker. I have NEVER had to rebuild it yet and it runs STRONG! Love your stuff Buckin. Keep it coming!

Got one today, FREE! bought two old snappers from a guy and seen the saw in the barn, I asked him about it and he said take it with you! Said he had to many projects going on and he did have a bunch of stuff in pieces. I'm very thankful, I needed a bigger saw.

My dad would give me a smack on the back of my head and tell me, "don't work the saw, let the saw work for you" - lets just say I learned really quick not to bog down the saw! Stay safe mt friend!

Man you nailed that on the head thats the exact words my father used to tell me back when i was first learning to run a chainsaw been along time since I've heard anyone tell me that but dads heard me say it and he just kinda chuckle a bit and with a smirk say well wonder who taught you to be such a professional running a chainsaw???? In a way that where you could tell he was letting everyone know that hes the one that taught me everything i know kinda patting him self on the back and not letting me forget who taught me!!! But still cant run a bow saw like him but his skill with a bow saw is a story for another time but that man could fly threw a down tree sawing up logs!

Hehe...that's what I've been trying to explain to a few people not used to chainsaws and how you file the chain...It does NOT help to use the saw as a pry bar if the chain is dull, or even when it's sharp.. everything's going slower when they do that...

Bucking is a man after my heart. I've got both of these saw in the garage as I type this the 266xp needs a rebuild she runs but no power on the other hand the 268xp. Is running like a champ. Both were bought brand new in the late 80's early 90's.

The 266 cylinders have a small combustion chamber, remove the base gasket and it’ll be around 190 psi on the compression gauge. Add a HS-224 carb and a dual port muffler and she’ll really sing.

@EvidenceofaFabulousLife

Hi Lar, I think they would do fine but Buckin' would take less off the rakers, his chains are filed for his timber there in his area. Probably too "hungry" for Doug's wood down there in Indiana. All the best Shankers

Insane - no gloves, ear or eye protection..no chaps? NO margin or error with a chain which travels at 10m/s...only has to happen once....
