Great idea for the hunting camp. The guys are always hungry at camp. Kind of reminds me of my dad's camp coffee pot. Every time he made more he just adds more water and coffee grounds. But by the end of the trip the spoon stands up on its own in your mug ;)

Awesome video! I've never thought about doing something like a stew pot. I'm defiantly going to be putting this to use when I go canoeing with some friends next month.

Great idea! I never thought of that. I will do this on my next outing with my son. I can see how the flavour would get better and better as time goes no. Fantastic Tell Cheers!

I know I'm late to the party by 5 years or so, but kitchen sink stew (as in everything but the kitchen sink goes in it) can really be stretched out when used as a topping for rice, noodles, bread, etc. or by adding hot water to a generous scoop of it until you have soup. It was a staple at the maple sugar camp, when each morning, grandad would bring the day before's dinner leftovers, and add them to the pot. Grandma made "stew" which is what we think of, and whatever was in the camp pot was called "the brown", which I think it a traditional name for it. The biggest problem was when the mix turned out to be absolutely delicious, there was basically no way to ever duplicate it since there was no recipe to follow. When we headed back to the farm in the evening, the pot would be placed in the sap evaporator firebox overnight, which was secure enough to keep animals out, and would stay warm enough to keep from freezing overnight. Alternately, a hole would be dug in a fire pit and the pot buried with the coals and fire raked over top, which would also not only keep it from freezing, but hot the next morning. The brown is still my preferred impromptu meal on cold days, likely for sentimental reasons as much as anything. At the very least, it's hot and filling.

I do this on my wood stove in the winter. It is also a great way to save money. Love the video.

This is very cool, i figured that keeping that like that, it would spoil, after it cooled some and bacteria would form. It has to maintain atleast 160degrees or it can turn bad i thought, so if it lowers beyond that point you could get sick. Tho you didnt get sick so i guess that is why we have immune systems lol. Very cool and good to know , thanks alot and very cool idea.

The bacteria thing is a good point Kull. The coolest it would have got was overnight and it was still pretty warm in the morning. Before every meal I made sure to get it to a healthy boil

Tell buddyi think it is a very cool idea and you said this was done, so apparently the food spoiling wasnt a factor. I took it from using a dehydrator, if i slow heat meat up below 160 degrees it is heated or warmed up only for a long period of time it can spoil , so you need to have it above that temp, so you would constantly have to have it at that temp i guess. I dont know lol I like the idea tho, and having breakfast ready each morning is very cool as well as your immune system would probably kick in if need be. Loved the video and great to see you back buddy. You know that wasnt negative, i was learning and asking questions lol

Thanks for asking, I should shoot a follow up video on that. I have my license and I am holding onto it but trapping is an incredibly restricted sport in this area and not easy to get into on a small scale. Im hoping to get into a little pest control work near home... someday.
