Fantastic start. Let's say you've researched and investigated, and still nothing like what you offer exists. Does the approach change when what customers are asking for is something they've searched high and low for but not found until coming across your offering? Do you look for surrogates or try to combine services that appear similar (at least on the surface)?

James are you saying that you have to start and complete the Base nr 1 first before going on to the middle layer? Or could one start and get part way through the bottom layer and then concurrently begin with layer two? Or would that be rushing it? When I talk to my students about eco-design I say that there are several steps in an order. But if we think of the steps as rooms in a house you leave the door ajar to the first room so that you can go back to revisit the first room if needed and then go back to the third room and continue there. You might need to revisit and tweak your understanding or basic idea in the first room instead of continuing to dig deeper during a later step. Great question! I didn't dive into that in this video because I didn't want to overcomplicate it, it's basically iterative in the way that you mentioned. If you can get the Product layer to a good place (i.e., "as good as it's gonna get for now"), then it's totally fine to move on to Experience and then eventually Promotion, with the understanding that you'll be coming back around to them many times in the future. The trick is having the mental discipline to not let yourself make excuses and skip over them. 😅
