Thank you for not giving us the advice of “speak slowly or take a deep breath”.

This is what I needed. I used to stutter when saying ‘Present Mam’, but then I decided to instead saying present mam and gets stuck, I will just speak it like ‘Re-sent Mam’. I was able to speak fluently but after some years I started to build up anxiety when my attendance number was going to come and then I started to speak present mam with some delay and sometimes I was not even able to speak it out because that time my anxiety gets very high and my heartbeat beats fast af. Am still trying to keep myself calm but still I get anxious. But after all, I will not loose my confidence and your video helps me for sure. Thanks so much for your tips and free workshop.

Same thing happen to me. My anxiety got started from the present mam and whenever we have a reading session in our class in which I know my chance of reading is going to come after some time, at that time anxiety is at the peek. I used to read the sentence which I will be supposed to read.

Dude, you’re like an angel. Besides facing my blocks with your tips, I develop my English. I am Brazilian and I want to thank you deeply! Yesterday I ordered a snack at a food truck here in my city where the attendant always asks for the first and last name so she can announce loudly when the snack is ready, I followed your tip not to promptly say the name but to use a complete sentence, yesterday I said: “My name is …” before saying Leonardo Queiroz, and my speech came out perfectly fluent, this is my biggest block, all the other stutters are light and I deal well, so, you simply brought my self-esteem back, you have no idea how important you are in people’s lives! In Brazil we have two very good professionals who treat people with stuttering but usually they suggest two things: increase in articulation and change in tone of voice, and this change in tone usually does not sound so natural, I believe that a firmer voice comes naturally with the gain of confidence, something I am feeling now following your tips and reading my books out loud daily!

I just stopped caring as much about how I sound or if the words come out perfectly or without stutter or if the tone is off. I learned to just accept that the anxiety will be there. It sounds cliche, but mindfulness helped me a lot this last year. Books like 30 Days to Reduce Anxiety by Harper Daniels, The Body Keeps the Score by Kolk, and the Tao Te Ching...I just had to learn slowly that it doesn't matter in the end how I sound...and then in a weird way I'm more comfortable and things work out.
