I'm glad that KZitem recommended your videos. Long ago I watched and downloaded every video and written article I could find about Howard Johnson's experiments. They were both eye-opening and encouraging to me, as I have an interest, but no real expertise in the use of magnetic motion devices. Your channel looks to me to be another great avenue of actual research and not just someone playing with magnets for fun. Thank you very much!

I have a improved version of this design, but haven't tested it. It came to me as a woke up in the morning having been thinking of achieving a workable design and asking what the design repeatedly. Suddenly gets a glimpse of the whole design as soon as the woke up. But this is the first video I saw for the design I was shown, similar but very much improved.Never had seen or even thought of it during my thinking process. Now when I see it roll nicely,m sure my design will work. Thanks allot

If you notice, all of the clips of rotary devices are either only a couple of seconds long, or they show the device coming to a stop. That is because all of the motion you are seeing is simply the inertia from when the motion was started. What you are seeing is that the arm speeds up temporarily toward a magnet, then decelerates by the same amount as it moves away from the same magnet. Over time, due to friction and air resistance, this bumpy accelerate-decelerate pattern tends toward decelerate, and the system will inevitably come to a rest. These devices utilize magical thinking, and cannot work. Gauss' law demonstrates that there are no magnetic monopoles: The fields created by magnets form closed dipole loops without exception. In effect, this means if a magnetic rotor is moving past a magnetic pole in a stator, any acceleration experienced as it approaches the pole will be negated by an equal deceleration as it moves away. Actual functional motors function using electromagnets, using switching patterns or the phase rotation of AC power to move magnetic fields at the appropriate time, and continually push/pull the rotor: See this video about brushless DC motors for a demonstration. In the spirit of sharing which you foster, consider the following thoughts I’d like to share. Don’t open the HJ gate to go circular. Instead research alternative track and cart designs. Plenty of coasters out there to get ideas from. The thinner the gate (although weaker) the closer they can be spaced around the circular track.

Thanks again for these. Now that I watched all three, I STILL have not seen a good demonstration of Howard Johnsons Design from one of the 2 times Science and Mechanics published it (or was that more than one design?), nor have I seen anyone use my 2 designs so far, which I will share here again, and I WOULD like if another person builds and tests this, so long as they dont try to steal my patent rights, because I spent the last 11 years learning how to make "Government" stop enforcing what my police tell me is "over 90% of what we do", so now I am returning to building inventions, and that would be great if I could get people with the tools ready to build now, to build and test my ideas, and I would be happy to include them in companies I plan to build in return (partners, or engineers, or whatever you want, whatever works). Here... I am about to build this simpler one I came up with in 2010, and I came up with a new design actually last night, a 3rd, a variation of this: I put a flat magnet magnetized so the North and South Poles are on the flat faces, as the Stator and Rotor Magnets, aligned so the forces repel one-another except for where they line up edge-to-edge and there the opposite poles attract the strongest (this is where the strongest forces between these magnets occurs too). So if these are 1/8th inch thick it has to overcome that much distance before the backwards forces are overcome, and the repulsive forces then push away. So I put a soft iron plate (from a hard drive btw) to cancel the field in front of the stator magnet so the rotor magnet instead attracts towards that iron plate, and then angled the Stator magnet so the Rotor magnet would attract to a point of the corner of the iron where it is past the center-to-center alignment with the Stator magnet, so at that point the repulsive forces between the magnets take over. There was a strong attractive force for a tiny point pulling backwards, but the momentum was enough to carry it past. And I moved the rotor magnet 1000th of an inch per second towards the stator magnet to minimize any momentum I imparted. Then like I said in other comments, in 2010 govt. took everything from me for a harmless "offense" which I have since learned how to stop, and I give that knowledge away for free on www.GovernPublicServants.com. But now that I'm back to this stuff, last night I was playing with my magnet collection, feeling the forces between different shaped magnets with my hands, and I figured out, I should have very thin edges which are a north or south pole, magnetized through the long dimension, and have the magnets at a 45 degree angle, so the rotor magnets trailing edge is closer and attracted to the tip of the shielding iron, at which point a very strong repulsive force between two like Poles (say both North) between the stator and rotor magnet repel from there. I think both of these arrangements are working so far, but this one I think will produce more torque. And on my Facebook (HarleyBorgais) I have shown another design using rotating magnets on gears and a half circle iron shielding plate on a center gear to block the fields between the center rotor and outer stator magnets for half the time, while magnets on the other side drive the whole mechanism for the other half (with the same shielding arrangement as the top half of course). I am pretty sure this will produce a good amount of torque, but what I figured out last night I think might produce more torque and RPM. I plan to find out soon, and start sharing on my Bitchute channel (bitchute.com/channel/CTfleGSewD6A/) and www.HowWeExist.com and my Facebook pg. I still hope to see a good demo of Howard Johnsons Design published in Science and Mechanics (Specifically the one with square magnets on rotor and two curved magnets on stator, times three pairs I think it was around the rotor). Thanks again for these videos.

Each system must still follow scientific laws: An object at rest remains at rest unless acted upon by an external force. By the same token, everything decays and tend toward disorder. These systems are studied for the purpose of building more efficient electric motors, not to build a perpetual motion device. Many people misperceive this.

My induction/expulsion station works as part of a linear or circular accelerator. Be careful to not have the accelerator stations too close together or the back force from the magnetic field between the acceleration stations can slow things down or stop them. The accelerated magnets on the cart or rotor can be fairly close together though.. say equal space and magnet width.

I looked at Figs. 1-3 of Howard Johnson's patent (4,877,983), and was surprised to see his version of the magnetic gate is the opposite of yours. He clearly has the ring first (with N inside), then the square with N on the trailing edge. But his book The Secret World of Magnets has the gate in the same order you do (pg. 25-26), so I guess both must work.

I'm messing with a design right now. I don't have the right magnets to create the Howard Johnson "chain". At the beginning of the chain that he created, there is a small repulsion and also at the end. I see that in your videos. Love the vids btw. The idea I'm trying, and I would love for you to test it, is using an hexagon shaped stator with Howard Johnson's design on all 6 sides (the system you covers in Part 02). This I think would reduce the negative effects everyone sees at the beginning and the end since they taper away from the rotor. I also realized that if you use a 5 point star shaped rotor with your U shaped magnet at the end of each point, there are 3 good positions and 2 bad positions at any given time. I would think this would help pull through the repulsion areas. I would design this myself, but spent about $300 on the wrong shaped magnets. I'm planning on ordering some soon. One more thing. You have plenty of room between the 6 points of the chains to add something if you think it would benefit. Please let me know your thoughts. I respect your opinion more than most on the subject. Do great things!

WantToBe MARTIAN Well, that sounds rather interesting. Nice way to think outside the box. A lot of the research I do has to do with modifications of Johnson's work. If you post your design, once you start putting it together, let me know. Keep doing great things!

Ultimately, the sum of forces of any system must be zero - or be powered, as you cannot reverse entropy. To get movement, you have to find a way to imbalance that without affecting the carriage, which is a contradiction in terms: and change in momentuum requires the application of a power source. And that's before one starts to consider environmental noise, friction from the air and track, and in the wheel bearings. So we must start with the presumption of the application of a power source... Very often, systems hide this by creating an unobtrusive gravity well. But ultimately, it's simply an inversion of the power equations.

Motionmagnetics Hmm, looks as if you are pretty much there already. Try to put also "L"-shaped iron core pieces with the right thickness on your rotor magnets at both ends. This will conduct some sticky flux away. You might get a bit lower forces, but also much less sticky points. You really need to play with the thickness of the iron of these "L"-shaped iron pieces. Good luck ! I hope you make the motor open source if you get it to run and show it widely around. Regards, Stefan.

Do you have a preferred source for the ferrite/ceramic magnets and the for the train tracks as well?

DAVID Francis One of the best ways to get started with understanding this type of system is to download Howard Johnson's patent, that I featured in the video, and build your own replication. Then, start playing around with variations in his configuration. That's what I did. You'll end up coming up with completely new design ideas that way. And you'll learn what works and what doesn't. The rubber magnets are really hard to find in the correct orientations. What I did, is order some square rubber magnets on eBay. Most of which come configured like a Halbach Array. You can alter their magnetic orientations by placing them between some neodymium magnets of a similar size. I placed mine between 10 neos on both sides of each magnet, and let them sit for an hour or two. The train track I picked up off of eBay as well. I usually work with HO, or G gage track. Sometimes I use O gage. Depends on your personal preference. Just make sure the track is non-magnetic. Brass and/or plastic. It's also difficult to find carts that have no parts that will be attracted to the magnets. I usually look for a brass/plastic combination wheel set, and then attach them to a small light weight piece of wood. Hope that helps.Thanks.

save yourself the trouble.. none of the designs will ever function... It's very simple to understand the logic of why none of these systems could ever function as hoped.. all you need to do is spend some time contemplating the way magnetic fields interact with each other and how they interact in combination with the basics of physics.. mass, force, acceleration, inertia. When you really boil it down to the basic components, you can never get away from the fact that a magnetic field of a magnet will always produce a predictable force upon any magnetic dipole moment that comes within range of that field. The force required to overcome that fields repulsion is equal to the force required to overcome that fields attraction. If a magnet exerts 'X' amount of force on a cart moving it 'X' distance, and in doing so, the 'cart' experiences an increase in momentum of 'X' in whatever direction it's being forced in. As the 'cart' moves out of the magnetic force field propelling it in the initial direction, it will inevitably and inescapably encounter another force field from that same magnet which will act upon 'cart' equally and oppositely as previously. If it first experienced attraction by the magnet, it will now experience repulsion. The initial gain in momentum will be overcome and reversed in an equal and opposite manner, having a net ZERO total effect on 'cart's momentum.. in actuality, less than zero, because of all the losses from friction and drag etc. in the system. The fact of the matter is.. unless you can somehow reconfigure the magnetic dipole moment of the 'cart' just after it goes thru the attraction phase and just before it experiences repulsion, and change 'cart's dipole moment so that it experiences a second round of attraction instead... The problem here is that you may very well be able to accomplish this feat... however.. the energy required to reverse the magnetic dipole moment within 'cart' will be no more than would be gained by that second burst of 'attraction'. It's the same idea when some of the tinkerers are trying to do things like use combinations of neodimium magnets and ceramics... so that part way thru the cycle of the system, the polarity of some of the magnets is flipped by the more powerful neodimiums.. in hopes of gaining a push instead of a pull... well.. unfortunately, you may get that push instead of pull.. but that 'push' had any would be gain of energy used up in the process of flipping the ceramics magnetic dipole moment from N to S or S to N. When you look at magnetism and magnets and magnetic materials for what they are on a microscopic level.. you realize this basic truth.. you can't pull energy from a magnetic field without putting energy in somewhere else. Here's a positive note to leave on... These free energy hunters will never give up.. and there's no reason they should! But they should be focusing on the right goals and targets, and operating within the reality of how our universe operates. That said, if the goal is to take energy from a magnetic field to do work, then that energy must come from somewhere. If a method can be found where the latent heat energy all around us in room temperature air is somehow the source which feeds the magnetic field which the energy is being harvested from.. you have a system that could actually exist. Find a way to take latent heat energy from the atmosphere and convert it into the energy required to do that magnetic dipole moment aligning so as to make your 'magnet cart' spin full circle.. However.. If you've gotten to the point where you can successfully utilize the atmospheric heat energy and put it to use by way of converting it to ANY other form of energy (not impossible, and not outrageous either!)... i doubt you'll be bothering with these permanent magnet toy contraptions.

Just mind about the vectors and you will understand everything. Do not try different kind of magnet shape, nor angle to put the magnet, nor spiral etc, because it will never make a difference. All we got is magnetic fields acting from their center toward every directions on a short distance. A perpetual motion device work of the principle of transformation of force(s) into energie(s) through a mecanism. And the vectors determine the working of every kind of mecanisms. Using gravity and magnetism to assist each other is the easiest way, but it can be achieved only if you understand the subtility of the instant vectors. A perpetual machine that give a moreover energy is called a Kreatris, because energy is created eternally from eternal forces, wathever the physics laws say its not possible, but the correct mechanism can manage the vectors, so think and created it correctly. The gravity act all the time everywhere on every masses, and verticaly. The magnetic field act localy in straight line on attraction or repulsion on other magnetic field, electromagnetic field and masses free to move inside zero to 90 degrees of this angle as allowed by the mecanism, and with a power that depend on this deviation, that's a vector. You must mind of every vectors, not just the one in your dream that should give you a working machine, because it is not alone. Only the last one, the resultant one at the end give you the energie. You must understand that as much powerful an energetic or repulsive vector should be, it maybe not exist, it could be anihilated by its reversed twin, could not act on an angle or because the mecanism do not allow. Energy and resistance are always produced, and at the same time or not the same time in a cycle, and are the exact contrary of each other, but as much their nature is different from each other, one can be reversed by the mecanism to become exactly like its twin, so both energetic or both resistive. So the vectors can be added, subtracted, anihilated, reversed, nature reversed, that's the resultant vector you got, energetic or resistive. Draw the magnetic fields, and the polarities, and the vectors as straight arrows on one or the reversed direction, and the center of the moving mass trajectory according to the mechanism, but never draw the magnets in your plans, and you will at last become able to understand. Only mind of the vecors.

Any Chance you have any follow up updates, on the motors demo'ed in the videos. Are these still running ? Are you still working on these ? Will you share the little tricks you learnt for people to replicate

Well done Motionmagnetics and thanks for mentioning my forum. Well, is the last motor you have shown in this video not just accelerating ? Looks like it accelerates or did you edit this video so it seems to accelerate ?? Have you ever tried to combine some magnets wrapped with coils around them and then switched the coils on or Off and the right timing intervals ? That would also still be a possible solution to overcome some sticky points, but it would still need more work and to find out the right coil dimensions and switching parameters and might need also caps to store some energy from the coils. Many thanks for your inpiring videos ! Regards, Stefan.

overunitydotcom Thanks Stefan. The last motor doesn't accelerate. It's just edited that way to serve the narrative better. I haven't tried collecting a charge and redistributing it into an assembly yet. I'm mostly focused on doing this with all permanent magnets at this time. I might give it a try at some point though. Thanks for the suggestion.

overunitydotcom that's what I been saying! Just not as well! Slightly neutralizing the magnets that cause it to stop. For a microseconds at the right time. Would make it work I think! I want to try....

What exactly are you trying to accomplish here? You already stated this is not a perpetual motion machine, so it cannot accelerate something continuously. At best you're making something that acts as a kind of magnetic bearing. But for what purpose? Even if you smooth the field as much as possible, you're still going to end up with a device that slows due to friction with whatever track is supporting it. From what I've been able to gather with my own tinkering, you need an electromagnetic system and/or superconductors for any actual propulsion. Or is the point of this to create a kind of magnetic rube goldberg machine?

Perpetual motion is not the problem. Putting a load on it to accomplish something useful is.

I think real free energy will tap in electrically to the machine that the magnet, neodymium, already is. I'm currently working on a theory on how to use the already spinning vortexes that already exist in a strong magnet, 8 inches by 4 inches pancake form. there are literally gaps where magnetic attraction is not really there. what if wired cones were placed right next to the top vortex? one in the center, one a few millimeters on the outside, parallel to the other cone, a cone sandwich on top of the magnet surrounding the vortex or walls of the tornado of the north pole?

What if Arc'ing the solution ruins it. As the magnets fields change direction and interfere with each other. So I mean have a spinning solution but where the spinning magnet goes through the gates have this in a straight line, by using a cam.

Salman Suleymanov Sure. I use a glue gun that I picked up at Home Depot, for all of my temporary builds. It's a lot easier on the magnets that way, since I often reuse them in other builds.

How do magnets work on a stationary circular flat surface/plane that is encompassed and a centralized northern magnetic pull? Can the northern magnetic pull levitate and circulate objects above it in a circular pattern while the plane remains stationary? How is it possible for that to work. Interesting stuff. Thanx

Michael Hein It isn't actually accelerating. I filmed it that way, as a visual aid to the video narrative. When I build one that accelerates, rest assured that I'll give you more than a passing glimpse.

imbalanced system mean that we should not put the magnet aligment too perfect to oppose each other. since this will make the rotate component stay still. this is how an engine work. the 4 cylinder engine don't combust at the same time. while the combusted piston prepare the other piston for new combustion. the magnetic field of a magnet shouldn't distract the other magnetic field of magnets . mean we should not put the magnet too close. this will bring your magnet to a unity magnet which mean a balanced big magnet and it will oppose the concept of imbalance system. the torque produced by a magnet will help in create a powerful rotation. but it will depend on the magnet type n size.

In an internal combustion engine (ICE), the initial impulse of energy on the power stroke is absorbed by some energy storage device (usually a flywheel, giving it angular momentum) which is then used to feed power back during the tail end of the power stroke as an increasing amount of energy is required to compress the air in the next cylinder that will produce power. As you pointed out, that is similar to the PMM - it uses its momentum to keep it going from one “driving” set of magnets to the next, but that’s where the comparison ends. The ICE requires externally-supplied energy at each “power” phase (released by the combusting fuel) to build up the momentum consumed in taking it from one power cycle to the next, whereas the PMM-by definition at least-requires no external energy to keep it going. The attraction by magnetic fields followed by a flip of the fields to repulsion at just the right time is what causes acceleration during the “power” phase. P.S.: In an ICE, a multi-cylinder configuration with staggered power strokes (so that one provides energy while the other cylinders are preparing for their power stroke) is not a necessity. When the flywheel has enough momentum to carry the engine to the next power stroke, 2-cyl or even 1-cyl ICEs can work, e.g. lawn-mowers, motorcycles and model airplanes with blades/propellers acting as flywheels, albeit most are 2-stroke engines.(There are some 4-stroke models).

So are you actually trying to make a perpetual motion machine? Is that your end goal? If so, how do you explain where the extra energy comes from (to do the work)?
@WantToBeMARTIAN1

DrZaius That's about the most diplomatic way to ask that question. I respect that. As someone interest in the idea of free energy, I listen to all the people say that you can't create energy out of nothing. I agree with them. It takes a force to produce movement. Magnets have the capability to do work. Take a piece of metal and slide it across the table. That object will keep on going forever until an equal opposing force stops it. Slide the metal next to a magnet and the magnet will pull it towards itself. This changes the trajectory of the metal. That by the laws of physics is force/work. Magnets can create plenty of torque and do plenty of work. The problem is getting them to work with each other and not against each other in the same direction. This is where physics "pros" jump in and say, "See you can't get magnets to do work because you don't have an external source of force. You can't create energy out of nothing." The problem isn't the external force not being there. It's that the force wants to push both ways. You have plenty of force in one direction, and the idea is to shield and align magnets to reduce the force coming from the opposite direction.
