Thanks Jarett, great service you provide here. I appreciate the objective of this video...to provide VERY brief descriptions of as many companies and their work as possible. As you've stated, your intent is to provide more in-depth content on each company in the future. A few companies I've noted could be added to your list; AI SpaceFactory, Form Forge, 3D Printhuset (Michael Holm), Armatron Systems, Geopolymer Institute, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (3D-Printed Habitat Challenge).

It is exciting to see all the trials with different approaches as this industry develops. One thing I've noticed on the walls of printed buildings is that so many--at least the early ones--are a bit sloppy; places where concrete has run down the wall, divots in the surface, ragged corners, etc. Is that (or will that) get better?
@automateconstruction

It certainly is improving and I suspect it will continue to. Outdoor printing is subject to many weather elements that can alter print quality.

@davidluftig4644

Well done! May you be blessed w enough advertising to pay for all your time compiling this. This field will explode! Personally I think a combination techniques will be most effective for middle class and luxury homes (200k -300k houses and those over $500k. ) (A robot for placing premade objects and a layer printer) For 3rd world and rural bungalow buildings the cheapest techniques will make a big difference. I have a wide background including industrial design and even wrote a paper (in college) on Buckminster Fuller. Among many things he figured out how to create mass produced "green" housing and invented the geodesic dome. (He was ahead of his time and it didn't take off) For instance a robot combing mud/concrete and a robot placing bamboo components would create avery strong "green" house. Also check out the fungus printers. Furniture is being "printed" using various fungus techniques.

I like the idea of fungus being used in the construction process. Biology is the best teacher. For those who are curious this video has made $116. I’m not sure how many hours I put into making it but the real reward was the knowledge I gained.

(Edited) A way should be developed to eliminate the ugly layer-cake effect. My thought is that high-powered ultrasonic waves could possibly be used to meld and homogenize the layers into each other somehow. These waves could be applied at the same time as the layers were laid down, when the material was at its wettest. The ultrasonic waves could be applied horizontally and vertically simultaneously as the material was being laid down. There could be vertical shaping plates (needs a better name than this!), several inches wide, that could extend down several inches, 2 to 3 layers below the printing nozzle(s), to shape and smooth the sides of the printed surface. The powerful ultrasonic waves could be projected "sideways" from these plates, as well as straight down from the printing nozzle(s). What I mean by using the plural of nozzle(s), is that I think that for speed and greater homogenization, it will eventually be found that using multiple print nozzles at the same location, and perhaps some horizontal, as well as the current vertical straight down type, might possibly prove to be faster and better in some ways. Mind you I don't know if printing a little bit in addition, from the side or at other off-angles would be helpful, or even possible. But unless it has already been explored and rejected for some reason, perhaps it is a variable that should be tested just to see if it could perhaps add to the strength or something. Perhaps by making the mixture more amorphous? Along with that attribute being improved by using ultrasonics to meld the layers together, along with vertical shaping plates. Perhaps even a bit of "back and forth/up and down/rough vibration effects" smoothing effect being done by the plates? Anything that helps to eliminate the layer cake effect. The layer cake effect hurts strength and longevity, and looks ugly. It must be eliminated soon.

Jarret, gimme a company that can remodel at my current house.. 1) turn a carport into a garage. 2) remove a wall & make a wall with a a sliding glass door. 3) in the backyard of the house, remove old cracked concreted floor & remake a newer concrete floor.. Will add a wooden deck. 4) remove a windowed wall to be just a wall in the bedroom. 5) in the master bedroom, add walls for a walk-in closet. Looking at this video 👀 , it’s hard to pick a good company. -Can this company create 90 degrees walls? -I read somewhere that says 3D printing can be harmful to your health. If that’s true, is there a safer to your health option? Thank you for your time to read my messages.

Thank you for this video. I have a question, and you may have answered on another video. From my understanding regular concrete has quite a carbon foot print and it looks like some of the 3d printing solutions vary. Do you know the where each company is at in terms of how each concrete solution is on how much a carbon foot print they produce?
@marissinka9775
3 жыл бұрын
I don't have exact figures, but from experience i can say that the concrete used is not regular, it is with higher cement content, thus with even higher CO2 emissions. WASP earth-based mixture should be with the lowest emissions.
