I've been a huge fan of yours for years and am particularly fond of how your props have developed over time. They have a particular form and function that regardless of the tone the video has, seem to embody the fun of creation. The "because I can" and "wouldn't it be cool if" that I crave and a lot of us drool over. I love that you use sound processing as a sort of prop, as it accompanies the headset. This may be a reach, but it reminds me a ton of the way voice processing is used in the game Control to accompany The Board. That plus the imposing brutalism architecture in that game gives me GxAce vibes. Thank you for this piece.
@GxAce

Thank you so much for this thoughtful comment! I would say the spirit and direction of my channel is perfectly summed up by the phrases "because I can' and "wouldn't it be cool if" hahaha. 100%. I was trying to strike a good balance with that sound effect, which I first used in the glimmer glass video. A lot of people found it annoying there, but I made it a bit more sparse in this video. The effect wasn't inspired by Control, but I just looked it up and it is a very cool sound effect. Its actually made in the same way the radio communications in the OG star wars movies were made, with a ring modulator. I definitely want to try that game out now. Thanks again!

As always, your production values are outstanding. I think that the XE-3 with the 35mm would make a cheaper entry in, or even the XE-2 or 2s if you don't want touch or tilt screen. Personally I use the 18mm f2 or 35mm f2 XC paired with either the XM-1 (small and light with flip screen), or the XE-1 (small, light and EVF).

Thanks, John! Absolutely. I definitely forgot to mention like I did in my x100v video that even getting the older ones is still a good idea. I do like how adjustable the film sims are on the newest line of Fuji's though and that does help some people who aren't confident with editing.

X-E3 is great! Was disappointed that Fujifilm removed the AF-S/C/M switch on the front of the X-E4, as I use that a ton, but I imagine there are other ways to configure the X-E4. I like that I can roll with X-E3 w/ the 35mm 1.4 which is quite compact. I have a wood grip and usually use larger lens on it including 70-300, Kamlan 50mm F1.1 II, 16 1.4 and soon a Samyang 200mm F2. For fun, day outings, I might pair it with a Fujifilm X20 or just use the X20 on its own.

Became a proud owner of an X-E3 Just last week and I literally got rid of all my Sony gear. Until I took my very first shot with the X-E3 I had no idea fuji cameras = Magic! I take it with me everywhere. I was getting bored with the way my photos looked from my A6000 and I no longer had any interest in spending hours editing raw files. Oh wow. I just recently picked up an XE-4. Somehow missed this particular video. But I've been a Pen FT shooter for over a decade and what led me to the XE-4 was in part looking for a true digital equivalent. I adapted my lenses to it and then I realized gxace did a video saying as much. Great analysis. I do see a lot of similarities in the cameras. The look of the shots you posted with the 38mm look just like a lot of my Pen FT work. Fantastic stuff. Now we just need someone to make a camera that has the sensor rotated the "wrong" way like the Pen F so that holding the camera horizontally takes vertical photos.

The Bladerunner dystopian vibes and sounds are irresistible. Except for the production that is constantly praised (rightfully so), the soundtrack/music in every video is superb.

I have the XE2s with lots of non Fuji adapted manual lenses using M42 and Nikon F focal reducers. My favourite combo is with an elderly Nikkor 55mm f3.5 macro lens, it looks etched, with beautiful colour. I like the XE2s so much, I bought another one. If I bought another XE, it would be the XE4, principally for the seven exposure auto bracket setting.

Admittedly, a wildly selfish request. I am moving to Fuji from Canon blind. Chose the X-S10 for multiple reasons, but very curious of your overall opinions on this weird middle ground camera 🤌🏻

Man first you got me to get an anamorphic lens and glimmerglass, and now I gotta get an X-E4 with the 35mm 1.4 for that classic Gx look 🤣. Im absolutely gonna rock it with the rectangular lens hood as well, gonna make it my EDC camera probably

"not only can you bake the color recipe into the image, but you can buy my preset pack and add ridiculous amounts of noise and grain to each image to really define the hipster creativity that lives inside you"

The preset pack isn't really for the grain, that's just a slider in lightroom, it's for the color.

I had the 35mm 1.4 and it is sick. But it's a little big, so I ended up going with the 27mm for ultimate portability and the 50mm f2 for DoF / portraits. I think it's a great combo. But the 35mm is sick.
@GxAce

Yeah if that 27mm was a faster lens it would totally be my favorite too! 2.8 is just a bit slow for me on APSC

@@GxAce Yeah, its not the best, but still good. It's comparable to the 'pancake 20mm' on the M43 system. This is just my family snapshot camera, so hard to justify so many similar lengths. I'm going for a small set up. The 35mm is the jam though, no doubt.

All of these reasons are why I ended up buying the xe4 just over a year ago. Still haven't picked up a 35mm lens as I have not made a decision on which one to buy yet. But the 27mm and 18mm f2 fit this camera in an amazing way
