I have all three lag shot clubs. Have been working with them diligently for three months. Doing all the drills recommended for them. They have not helped me at all. At this point I beginning to feel that I have wasted a lot of money that could have been spent on lessons.

Matt, went to range with my 7 iron lag shot and did the drills. The drill 5 - stop at the top got my sequencing finally in rhythm. And the results with every club was magical. More power, straighter shots and divots after the ball contact. I always felt my arms were starting down too quickly and got ahead of my hips. Now it is crystal clear. I stop at the top now on all my shots for what seems like seconds but I am sure it is much less than that. But man does that ever reset the proper sequencing for me. Need more practice to make this permanent but got to tell you, this may have been the best advice ever. Thank you.

You sir, are a certified genius. Quick context here is that I'm approaching 50 and have a 2 hcp, with average power for my age/hcp. My lagshots haven't even arrived yet but I had to try drill 4 and 5 with my regular clubs. Results were amazing! Trackman to trackman results after only 2 sessions are (in yards): 7 iron: used to be 170/180 (carry/total) - now 190/200, with crushed ones getting to 200/210 5 iron: used to be 190/200 - now 210/220 with crushed ones 220/235 Spoon: just hit a handful, but best one carried 260 and rolled out to 290. 30 yards beyond normal.. MASSIVE difference in feeling when I smash the ball and I have even more power to find in my legs (I've been flipping for years). Club head speed increased by 3-4 but the real difference is the prolonged ball contact that drives smash up. Can't wait to take this swing to the course. Huge thank you. Keep up your amazing work!!

Yeah- i just bought the 7 iron lag shot & got nervous because the consistent feedback is that there are no helpful instructions - luckily, I found you & this video! Big shout out! Quick question, when you say accelerate later in drill 5, how do you do that ? What are you engaging to accelerate ? I am a single digit (5) and a big guy but i am always the shortest off the tee - i THINK when i try to accelerate, i involve my arms & hands too much - not on purpose but involved, nonetheless

Two great things from this video... 1 - You are still using Lag Shot and that speaks TONS to me. A pro that goes back to a training aid tells me that the product works and the pro has confidence in it. 2 - You gotta feel what's wrong and what's better before you can feel what's correct I'll be ordering my Lag Shot clubs and using this video as soon as they arrive. EDIT - Do you have a link to get all three clubs at once?

These drills were actually great. I had a terrible practice with these when I first got them, just getting out there and swinging. My first session with these drills really helped me find the feel of how to not pull from the top and where to speed up the swing. Felt like a breakthrough in how to stay patient. First time I actually was able to the feel the "slow down to speed up" advice I've been getting for so long. Thanks!

Love the video! I feel like I can visually and vicariously understand your points. I recently shortened my driver swing almost to the point where you are saying to accelerate. So the beginning of my follow through is the start of my acceleration which has added more consistency and kept my yardage, if not added a few more. Now once I work that timing and rhythm of the shorter swing, I can later add back that full swing extension. Keep up the great work! My game has gone from high 90’s to high 80’s watching your vids!!

Matt, I'm a long time fan of yours. Been watching your videos since the early days in your backyard and always get something out of your videos. I can not tell you enough how much I appreciate this video. This is even better instructions than Bazalgette's! I've had my 7-iron lag shot iron for about 3 weeks, had no idea what to do with it. And I swear to God, just like the commercials, with your instruction, it literally changed my entire swing. I've never been able to hit a six iron or longer, I was just popping them down the pike. Thank you so much!

Really like the video and have been focused on this type of feeling on my backswings. Curious if you've ever tried the "no swing" backswing or have ever seen it. Maybe I've developed the Fosbury Flop of golf and just don't know it. I've always had an issue with backswing/getting too inside but have developed around it. Started playing around with simply starting at the top of my swing, coiling back a tad and then letting it go. WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU TRY THIS ON CAMERA AND TELL ME WHAT YOU FEEL!

I ended my range session feeling for the inside muscles of my legs. Some people have knock knees. It seems to be a genetic advantage. Normal people have to feel like Milton Berle the great comedian. I once met Uncle Milty when he took a taxi ride in my NYC Yellow Taxi. I said to him. Wait a minute you’re very very very famous and said Mel? He said Milton Berle. I said yeah the guy with the broken high heels. In the 1950’s if something went wrong on the TV show the public saw it. Golfers need to feel like uncle Milty and bring their knees together. First flexing the right leg muscles while positioning the left foot. Then flexing the left leg while positioning the right leg. What about a devise that exercises the inside muscles of the legs.

I currently fight hooks and smother hooks at worst. My first session with the Lagshot 7-iron was a lot of push fades. My "good" swings with it started right of center and faded a little while the bad ones started well right and faded from there. When I went back to my clubs I started seeing a tight fade. I'm gonna try these drills again today. I'll reply again on session #2. I only have the 7 iron. 🤷♂

I really struggle with swinging hard with my hands at the ball from the top. The first time i tried the lag shot 7 iron yesterday I had feast or famine. The good shots really felt good the bad shot all went weak right. Much of my problem starts with not executing correct takeaway. After watching this video i went to range today. I started with first drill and first strike went 120 yds easily with the short handle only takeaway. Sadly I struggled and had mixed results and frustration. So, like a dummy i went to drill 3 and amazingly had worse results. So, i went back to drill 1 and stayed with it until i had consistent results! It took awhile to get decent results but when i went to drill2 i got way better results out of the gate. Im posting this as example of someone who thinks that you should be able to do step 3 when you can’t even do step 1 ! I assume that I’m hitting this 7 iron lag shot so far because of its flexibility? I hit the lag shot way further 120yds or so,than my 7 iron just with the handle only drill?

I wasn’t understanding when people told me about compressing the ball but the way you explained it made so much sense.
